incredible and also very busy. well worth the trip but when i go again i'll shoot for sunrise, i imagine it would be less crowded then and also awesome looking.
Hope I'm not too late BBQ: Slaps, Joe's, Q39, Jack Stacks Fancier dinner: Extra Virgin, BLVD Tavern, Anton's Brunch: Cafe Sebastienne, The Farmhouse, Ibis Bakery, Beignet Mexican: Jarocho, anywhere on 7th Street in KCK Breweries: Brewery Emperial, Double Shift, Torn Label, Stockyards, Boulevard Beer Hall Things to do: Nelson Atkins Art museum, the WWI museum (mostly the plaza on top overlooking downtown), City Market if it's Saturday, Chicken and Pickle
-Had jacks for the first time when I went just recently, not a fan. Joe's/Gates >>>>. I did get a Q39 rec when I was there, so i'll probably go there next time.
-on Nelson, WOW. blown away, idk why I never went there in the 2 years I was there, and all the other side trips I took, but it was phenomenal. highly recommend for anyone else. Kemper was also really great.

we drove from silver plume straight up through the mountains and went in the south exit, took the alpine road or whatever that is, and then hiked to a waterfall and left the park over by the stanley (which i think the whole order we did was kind of backwards from everyone else), and then drove back through the other of the two roads that go through the mountains. Got to see Saint Malo's Chapel on the Rock and that was also pretty great, we were pretty much the only people there at sunset.

Glad you liked it! That's my neighborhood, live 3 blocks from Nelson, super underrated museums.
Gonna be in Orlando for a few days next week. Got a bunch of time booked between Universal and Halloween Horror. But I have one free day. So to anyone in or around City Beautiful, should I go to Kelly Park at Rock Springs for my I’m going to a spring day? I was hoping to get back over to Cocoa Beach, but i would have needed an extra day. I was thinking maybe cruising up to Silver Springs in the am and swimming there and then maybe going to Kelly Park. But if there is another Springs worth going to nearer to Orlando vs driving up to Ocala, I could probably fit that in instead. Any recommendations?

What should I do in New England around Halloween? I want to visit a buddy in Providence, RI, around that time. I've got a week window on either side of Halloween to work with. We can drive anywhere within, like, five hours of Providence.
I was thinking of going to camp in White Mountains National Forest and driving Kancamugas Highway, possibly with a stop in Burlington while we're up there.
What's good in New York around that time? I've always been interested in the Hudson River Valley and Cooperstown area but don't really know what to do there. Or anything worth checking out Mass?
I copied LD's previous guidance from this thread in my planning document so I appreciate that already. I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything based around that specific time period.
Also I went to Acadia NP in May so I don't necessarily want to head back to Maine so soon.

I live on the north shore of Massachusetts and let me just tell you, don't go to Salem on Halloween. Visit after. It's a massive tourist trap and more stabbings/assaults happen on that day than any other day of the year here. I do recommend visiting a couple days after though, its a beautiful city otherwise.

Not what I was expecting but I guess that tracks. And thanks, definitely was going to avoid Salem on the day itself.

Kancamagus area is nice. Don't go up there nearly enough, though I did go for a few days back in July.
Lincoln and Woodstock are smaller towns on the western end of Kancamagus. A bunch of hiking around in that area and some ski resorts. The Conways are bigger, on the eastern end of Kancamagus. North Conway has a bunch of little shops that sell a lot of the same stuff. North Conway also has a place called Moat Mountain, which is a good BBQ joint and brewery.
Edit: Providence has a Waterfire lighting on November 2nd, if you're curious to check that out.

Thanks man! That Waterfire definitely piques my interest. I've been wanting to check that out.

Has anyone been to Zion National Park? The boyfriend and I are going mid-October for about two days. Half of one day we will be doing a guided canyoneering trip, the rest of the time we'll be hiking on our own. Curious as to which hikes are the best.
i'm not a New England expert but i've heard they have a local delicacy called something like a "Sticky Bicky on Wicky". not 100% on my facts but i'm pretty sure it's an open faced lobster roll served on corn meal pancakes and covered with marshmallow fluff, molasses, stewed apples, and cheddar cheese.

*purchases one Sticky Bicky* *walks into woods* *turns nob on maple tree to dispense syrup as a topping*

I’m in New Orleans for a week with my family. Any recommendations?
Tropical Isle. Hand grenade. Go.
Don't listen to this.^^^^
I am not sure where you are staying, but here are some French Quarter/CBD things to do:
National WWII Museum Aquarium of America The Death Museum The Tattoo Museum The Pharmacy Museum The Voodoo Museum Walk the Riverwalk at nighttime The art alley on Frenchmen St.
I recommend doing a Walking Tour if you are into that...Haunted History Tour is good and there's even a Drink History Tour.
Things to eat: Killer Po-boys (pork belly poboy) Brennan's or Court of Two Sisters for brunch Cafe Beignet or Cafe du Monde Mr. B's Bistro (BBQ Shrimp)
That should be a good starter, esteban always has great ideas as well.

Awesome. Today so far we did Cafe Dumonde, Jackson Sq., St. Louis Cathedral, Pharmacy Museum, Insectarium, Aquarium, Riverwalk, and about to head to Voodoo Museum, and Music Box Village. Such a beautiful town. There won’t be a lot of partying as I am here with my kids (2 and 6). Keep them coming if you have them. I upload everything into a google map I created.

The museum of art is in City Park which is lovely. You need to ride the streetcar. You can go to Bayou St. John and Kayak. There is also airboat adventures, you can do a swamp tour. I love those even if they are a bit cheesy. I will think of some others, I am sure that esteban will have lots more.

Swamp boat and kayaking are on the list. I will look into the Art Museum. We will definitely do that. We took the street car from Mod-city to French Quarter. That was a little confusing, but we got the hang of it.
Don't ever try the bus. Also, Algiers Point which is the second oldest neighborhood in New Orleans is a ferry ride across the river, if they ever fix the ferry. Not sure if it is running, they have had a rough week. It's 10sq blocks and have some bars/restaurants and shit (it's also 2 miles from my house).
Went to City Park and saw the sculpture garden, singing oak tree, and Botanical Gardens. I think it was one of the most beautiful public spaces I’ve ever been to. Those Oak trees are absolutely stunning. Storyland was closed and we didn’t get a chance to do NOMA, so we plan on going back sometime over the next week closer to sunset.

They just did a big makeover at Storyland, and the brand new Childrens Museum just opened a week or two ago. It’s right behind the sculpture garden.
I personally don’t like the walking tours. I feel like the guides are mostly full of shit. Eat at Compere Lapin, Bayona and if you brought nice clothes, GW Fins kind of is a must.
