Anybody got food or brewery recommendations for Columbia, SC? We're going down next month to go to Congaree NP (she has no idea so shhhh). Specifically, seafood and breweries that have excellent sours would be most ideal. Thanks!

Stop being a bitch and tell me what's what. I even got custeph to talk about it without cussing.
Seriously I don’t even stop there. We go straight through on the way to the coast. I couldn’t tell you where to go.
Fair enough. Honestly, steph told me she knew that there were nice places in the city but couldn't tell me any offhand. She did confirm Congaree is awesome, so that was a nice bonus. I asked the airbnb host too. Hopefully they'll come through. Otherwise, I'm running with Google research.

Heading to Bonnaroo in about 5 weeks. Anybody have any insight into the schedule, food or beer they can confirm?
Didn’t think so.
no, but I think it's really important to know that The Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival is an American annual four-day music festival developed and produced by Superfly Presents and AC Entertainment. Since its first year in 2002, it has been held at what is now Great Stage Park on a 700-acre (280 ha) farm in Manchester, Tennessee. The festival typically starts on the second Thursday in June and lasts four days. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 festival was initially postponed to September 24–27, but was ultimately canceled altogether. It was deferred to September 2021.[2] Main attractions of this festival are the multiple stages featuring live music with a diverse array of musical styles including indie rock, classic rock, world music, hip hop, jazz, Americana, bluegrass, country music, folk, gospel, reggae, pop, electronic, and other alternative music. Musical acts begin Wednesday evening for early arrivers, continued throughout the festival with performances starting each day around noon, and some stages entertaining festival goers until sunrise.[3]
The festival was ranked in 2003 by Rolling Stone magazine as one of the "50 Moments That Changed Rock & Roll",[4] "Festival of the Decade" by Consequence of Sound, and among the 10 Best Festivals by GQ Magazine.Cake

I'm just assuming they will use shucks schedule so I'm going with that.
I haven't drank beer in so long I don't even understand conversations about beer anymore. Recently read a post on inforoo about "sours" what the fuck is going on with beer.
And for food just eat the arepas it doesn't matter.
It's southeast of the city. Columbia is more the place to eat and get an airbnb. There's nothing that's right by the park.
Just go to Charleston then?
I thought about it, but it's about 50% longer of a drive. Also, the park is really the main event. I've been doing research, and I think I have found a couple spots that look promising. Was just curious as to any first hand recommendations. Lastly, it's a quick trip, and I feel we'd need more than a couple days for Charleston.

I had two full days in Charleston, felt like I needed another 1-2.
Does anyone have a language learning app they like? The boomer in me keeps looking at Rosetta Stone but I was wondering if there was something better out there?

I did Duolingo for a few weeks before going to France and it was enough for me to ask for directions, order some food, and apologize for switching to English.
Also, can't recommend the Google Translate app enough. Download the language pack you'll need, take a picture of the words you want to read, and it'll translate the picture. It's incredible.

Duolingo is the one I’m looking at in particular. Years ago, I was touring Quebec for a week and knew no French. I basically learned the bare minimum to get by. Eat, toilet, cigarette were pretty much all I knew minus pointing and rubbing various parts of my body.

I’m upping my game this time around.
It's free so you may as well download it and play around. Some friends have also listened to podcasts intended for teaching you a language. They'll read the news in slower, easier to understand ways. It could be a passive, immersive additinon to Duolingo.

I’m using Duolingo for Spanish since I’m doing the Girls Just Want to Have Fun in Mexico next February. I like it, I can order food and booze in Spanish now. Just use the free version.
Has anyone traveled overseas yet since the ban got lifted? The Mrs and I are headed to Paris in November. Obviously we’re both vaccinated.
I was reading the rules on COVID and apparently we have to have a vaccination AND a negative COVID test within 72 hours of flight to enter Ireland. Our layover is in Dublin.
I know here how easy it is to get one but I don’t know about other countries and if the airlines will prompt us on where to go.
A friend just had a good experience with this. Might solve your problem.

Ohh, I’ll keep this in my back pocket. They’ve updated the rules to say we were in a country they could accept vax cards from. Apparently we have to get a hold of the embassy when we get there to find out where to go. I’ll start checking if this is allowed because if it is, that’s a good thing.
Last week I hit number 27 of 63 national parks visited since 2016. Don't throw things at me, but I kinda traded music festivals for national park travel.

Lemme know when you are ready to hit the NPs in Hawaii.

As inforoo is a place for lists, please rank the 27 you've been to and the 36 you want to go to in order.

Here are the parks I've been to since 2016. Putting them in order of best to worse will be a chore. Let me think of that and come back to both questions. But I will say what I think is my number one is a park most people don't think of.
