They killed it with the lineup!! Can't think of a more perfect festival for my tastes!! Can't wait to be back!! Went solo this year. Bringing a crew this time!
Moog and Big Ears are awesome, but those are different animals. I probably should have qualified rock and pop festivals.
In that case, Leviation.
It's so f'n eclectic though with the psychadelphia. I don't think there is really any other similar type festival in the country that I am aware of. I like Aura's lineup better for what I know and have seen, but I'm sure there are a ton of bands in the lower and mid card that are probably phenomenal live. What I have seen on this lineup (from the bottom):
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard - Don't care about them and don't understand the hype. Same was true with Diarrhea Planet a few years ago. Everyone was charged up on how great they were at x festival. Growing up in the Hardcore days, it's soft to me.
Shabazz Palaces - I'd see again
Thurston Moore Band - I've never seen his band, but I saw Sonic Youth open up for Neil Young back in 91 at UNO. It was great, and I always liked him and whatever contributions he made when sitting in with other artists and bands. I'd guess this would be pretty good. FWIW, Sonic Youth came on stage with like 14 or 15 guitars and it was a 100% noise set there. Social Distortion opened up and sucked as expected.
Flylo - Saw 20 minutes and Bonnaroo and had to bail for a conflict. I will see him again at some point. I wasn't a giant fan of the music, but the scene and visuals helped it along.
Brian Wilson - Saw Beach Boys at Bonnaroo 12 for about 15 minutes. I got dragged over there by jabco and one of our friends, but we ended up bailing pretty quick. I realize this is sort of historic for what it is, but it wouldn't too much interest me. I respect it for what it is, but like Jimi said, "To you I shall put an end, you'll never hear surf music again."
I've seen some of the other names on other lineups, but if there are 2 bands or acts you'd recommend checking out, let me know.
Yeah, I would really enjoy this...will have to wait and see what Wanee looks like though. I can't pull off both.
Surprised you don't like the Gizzard Esteban? I don't think they're amazing, but interesting.
I checked them out before whatever festival they played at I was going to (Bonnaroo?) and I didn't find it interesting. Maybe I'll give them another listen.

watch the kexp set...sum of the parts kind of thing.
I missed Thievery at Hula last year and at 420. So excited I get to finally see them!
You should enjoy them. I saw them for the first time at Waka this year. whats so cool about them to me is all of the different styles of music they can play and are good at. They were after Lotus but I didn't have a letdown. Both those acts (also Portugal and Greenhouse Lounge on that afternoon and night's run) didn't really slow down until Goldfish. Some people like them and they were okay, but it was nothing coming on the heels of Thievery.
In case some of you didn't see it, Fanbridge sent out an email with the additions (as already noted above) along with an extension of the early prices through midnight tonight.
What they did mention about the additions that is worth noting is:
Nunchuck - Chuck Jones & Scott Zwang of Dopapod, Mike Dillon & Craig Brodhead of Turkuaz
Silent Disco: Telekinetic Walrus (psychedelic Miami 5 piece hiphop project) MZG (not my favorite version of Monozygotic - this is the disco one) Mineo Loops (Mike Mineo's project) Bells & Robes Zwang Bang & Chewie (Scott Zwang of Dopapod & LD Luke Stratton) Weazildust (Tony D of Heavy Pets, DuBBle James & Packy Lunn of Jimkata)
Just listened to these guys for the first time. This video is amazing, I'm so excited to see them!
Those guys put on a fun show. I got to see them do a taping for NPR's Jazz Night In America. The episode is set to run on NYE, so we got to do the countdown and Auld Lang Syne back in September.

The thing that's really special about Thievery is they bring a lot of the people featured on their albums on tour with them. There were maybe 10 different people fronting songs during the show I saw a few weeks ago.
How I love this park!! Aura was a different Fest for me this year. Due to family issues, we had to leave early Friday and did not get back until late Saturday, so missed more music than usual. Disco biscuits light showed change my life last year, but I was not sure if it was the biscuits or the paper. This year proved it was the biscuits! They killed it on both sets. My favorite was listening to Jennifer Hartswick and Natalie Cressmsn sitting in for some funky town. The Fritz threw it down on Thursday. Mike Dillion had me SMH on friday, "You are not the devil. You are just a white boy from suburbia, who came out to hang with your hippie friends, took too much drugs and can not handle your shit!" Lol!'
The numbers looked to be low, which to me was great for this weekend, but I know not good for next year. Aura kills it on production and I hope that continues.
If you were there, SCC did an install at Aura. We did the art and lights up the hill at the Amphitheater and the geometric morphing mobiles in front of the art tent.
