Wow, not sure how I feel about this. Are they expecting 0 crossover for this and Shaky Knees? Kind of hard to afford two festivals that are weeks apart. I'm also assuming the lineup will be pretty good? Just based off the booking for Shaky Knees, and I don't see the point of having another EDM festival with all the same cheesy acts. Gosh this pretty much pushes out Counterpoint too.

They did it last year with Shaky Knees and had Shaky Boots one week later. Now that they are using the same location for both, they'll be able to save some mulah on the production end, which is why I thought they did two fests last year, but they were in two separate locations. No word on whether or not Shaky Boots will happen again.

Yeah but the guy that runs both even said that Shaky Knees and Shaky Boots had two totally different audiences. Which is true. But with this new festival, I'm not sure if that's going to totally be the case. Depending on the lineup of course. I mean someone who likes Jamie XX and Big Grams who would play at Shaky Beats, could easily also like Beck or Ty Segall who would play at Shaky Knees.

I think the bigger dilemma is that it goes against Hangout and Moogfest. A lot of youngsters go to hangout and stay in the boom boom tent most of the time (mostly EDM and hip hop stuff) and Moogfest is for folks to mainline EDM of all kinds all weekend long. I kinda saw this coming when I heard Tim Sweetwood say that he would never book hip hop at Shaky Knees in that article. Plus hip hop has done well in spots in ATL (see below...was awesome). I'm with you on your point too, though. And I see both of the aforementioned fests sharing some acts with this one.

I suppose we'll have to see.
If there's a decent focus on booking some good hip hop for this festival then I'm happy.

They announce next Tuesday. I'm pretty excited about the possibilities.
It's funny, I made the thread title before Hangout released its bubblegump. If they have some similar acts, I wonder how many kids are gonna be all like, "Uhh, dad, did you already get me that Hangout ticket for Christmas?!?!?! Cuz if you did that's fine, but if not, well, there's this other one."

I find this interesting that it's being presented as a seemingly mostly EDM fest when Tomorrow World turned out to be such a shit hole and Counterpoint basically abandoned any idea that it was a primarily electronic fest. Not sure if any of it is actually connected, but I'm looking forward to seeing the lineup.
Counterpoint isn't coming back. C3 pulled out last year, thats why it was "cancelled" then the other promoters decided to let it ride. They have no money left without C3.

I want to keep my expectations low, but in Shaky we trust, so I'm hoping for a few of these: Hangout crossover: Grimes Big Grams Raury Not crossover: Chemical Brothers Disclosure Justice M83 Chvrches Hundred Waters
I don't know whether to expect a few things like that sprinkled among the Bassnecters of the world, or if I'm way off base. Any predictions or things your hoping to see on the lineup come Tuesday?

That's sad. The first two years were so good (well I only went to the second year that had OutKast). Counterpoint had really gained a good following too. There seemed to be a loyal community building with Counterpoint. I'll miss Counterpoint for the camping and the vibez, but maybe Shaky Beats will have more of a lineup that caters to my likings.
