Was Big Grams really not that well received? I thought they'd be doing more festivals, and they seemed like they'd be a lock for this one but I guess not

Surprised to see the presale VIP is only $300 for this and still includes free beer, water, and food. That's a great value, but this fest would def be lineup dependent for me.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.
Rezz and Mija would've been cool Kalliope/Silent Disco acts, but other than them nothing of value is lost besides maybe Bonobo. Also, lol about Getter.
Yikes, at least last year had some decent stuff. This year's saving graces are Little Dragon and Bonobo.
Little Dragon? I walked past that set at D4N. The sound was good, the music was pretty weak. But last year's lineup had some good rap if I remember - Nas and Ferg I think???)
Top 2 HL's suck (Kaskade & Chainsmokers). GRiZ, Gramatik, RL, Bonobo, Snails, Rezz, GWN, Grandtheft, Ekali and maybe Kaiydo along with Illenium live performance could be a good couple of days. But for 3 days? Do they have another phase of the lineup to release, or is it an evening only or 2 stage festival?

Gotta disagree on that Little Dragon DfN set, really enjoyed that and bummed I left it when I did.
But ya, this lineup is extremely bland. I wouldn't mind seeing Claude Von Stroke, Bonobo, and Little Dragon, but that's about it.

I remember reading you and someone else said they liked it. I came by there I think we were walking to RZA maybe, and I watched about 5 minutes or so. What I heard, while the sound was really clean, just sounded like chick pop. I'm not hating, but that's why I didn't stick around to watch more.
--------------------
For everyone else saying this lineup is trash, awful or whatever, and it mostly is, neither GRIZ nor Gramatik are ever in that category. I don't know the last time anyone saying that saw either of those acts, but their sets usually end up near the top of whatever festival they're playing (and certainly Top 1 or 2 electronica). Since both usually play live these days (GRiZ on sax and DJ'ing with Muzzy Bear on Guitar) and then Gramatik with Gibbs playing guitar and maybe another live performer or two, I haven't seen a bad minute much less a bad set from either one. And FWIW, Lowtemp Records (Gramatik's label) is solid.

Ya, it's definitely on the softer side of what I typically listen to. But I love her voice and they lock into some grooves that really resonate with me.
For it's intended audience, it's a fantastic line up. For Inforoo, it's musical fecal impaction.
I didn't see Little Dragon although I really intended too. I think that walk from Green to Yellow just seemed too long.
Little Dragon was on Red Sunday a bit after Squarepusher. I watched most of his set and went in to Bjork Digital for a few minutes and then headed over to Futurelix. I was walking over to catch Buttholes when I stopped to watch some of their set because the sound was so good (even though I wasn't into the music itself).

When the Chainsmokers are number 1 and headline a festival with a song they can't even sing on key live, that's when you know the state of music we are in right now

But isn't that generally the state of Top 40 Pop the last 15-20 years? Do that many pop singers really not lip sync these days? It was jaw dropping when they busted Mili Vanili (sp?) doing it, but it seemed like nobody really cared when Britney Spears was doing it. "She is all choreographed." Then the NFL made everyone pretty much fake-play at super bowls, and plenty of the important games' national anthems are lip synched. I mean I'm not going to pay for that kind of drivel, but it has its millions of fans. And I'm not going to knowingly pay to go see someone pretend to sing or play air guitar or something. I'd want my money back.
But as always, Chainsmokers are +/- McDonald's. It feeds the sing-along masses.
