I got my Cure on at ACL, they year they got cut off right at 10pm. Passion Pit played before them which created the most advantageous demographic shift in crowd and I moved up with a few yards of the rail. There was an awesome couple that were celebrating their anniversary that exact day. They just so happened to have originally met at a cure show. Def an awesome end to that weekend.
Wait Guns N Roses are playing Houston too on Aug 5th. And that is the only show that f'n Skrillex is opening. You have to go. And report back with video on how a stadium full of white trash reacts to hearing robots fucking at high volume for the first time. I almost want to drive out there and see them again a week after nola just to witness that.
I thought STS9 opening for Jay Z was odd. How the fuck does Skrillex get booked for GnR????
To humor you, I checked the prices and for the monetary value of HANGOUT FEST 2017, I could get GA Pit-ish tickets.

I REALLY wish I could experience the shit show that will be.
I thought Houstone was slightly less than 2hrs from ATX.
Who cares though? You have the option of visiting motherquacking Buc-ee's on the way.

That is tempting to experience.
I bought a pit ticket for nola. It's double the most I've ever spent on a concert ticket. It will also be the first time I haven't been in the nosebleeds at a stadium (except for GD50 3rd day). I want to witness this shitshow up close and personal. We have been waiting on this to happen for over 20 years. You can probably score nosebleeds the week of the show for $50 though.
And the cost of a hangout ticket is only 25% of your spending if you commit to this fest unless you're packed in to a shitty condo with 12 bros like sardines, eating cheap scooby snacks the whole weekend, and not drinking (aka not doing it right).

Yea, the $265 I paid for my GNR pit ticket in NOLA is more than 2x the most I've ever paid for a single show.
I don't care though. Up close in a stadium, not in a seat, with my first favorite band ever. Priceless! I've been a GNR fan since Appetite came out, and I was f'n in pre-school.
Cheers to my Godmother that babysat me and made me watch MTV/Headbangers ball with her all those years. Cheers to my Dad who is a rocker and let me pick out Appetite on cassette for my 6th birthday present.
I wasn't sold on this "Buc-ees" until I.....walked into a Buc-ees. It's legit. The drive across I-10 is pretty awful aside from that and the random gas station that has a Lion exhibit. Hangout 17 has all but faded on my radar unless we get that 180. Besides the fact Ne215 can't make it so we'll be planning something else, 16 line up was a major step down as we've discussed and we already considered making it our last trip.
I would love a beach fest that is just plain basic music+beach. I don't need 30 random BS exhibits, sponsored houses w beach access, ect littered through the beach. I'm assuming that was what De Luna was more geared towards.
lol I get the feeling this whole thread is gonna be just stragith communication for everyone and that's it. I know there's only like a 10% chance of me going next year. Watch no1 even go and we just bullsh*t on here for a year.
Agreed. It was a good run and I'm glad I met a few of y'all. It def makes me want to reach out to others on here now that I know you all are truly human. If Roo bounces back I may consider it. Yall are welcome to a couch if ya decide on ACL or something down in ATX.
Hamburger festival with Tonic sounds like a better time than Hangout 2016. I bet it was free or less than $10 to get in and there were no butthole checks or ecig & sunscreen bans.
U2 isn't getting booked at any US festival except maybe Coachella or Desert Trip 2. Anything that sells out stadiums like U2, Rolling Stones, Beyonce, etc would cost Hangout their ENTIRE talent budget. It would just be U2 playing. And them selling hamburgers. And I have never in my life heard of U2 fans referred to as "cool motherfuckers." If anything U2 fans are a bunch of middle aged mouth breathers that don't go to shows anymore except when U2 tours. Probably very similar to the majority of the Pearl Jam fan base. Only older and whiter. I will admit that I got to see U2 in 1997 at the superdome for free via radio promotion and they were great live. That trip included a bus ride there from Biloxi with free pizza and beer. They let my 17 year old ass drank beer. I think they assumed that I was in the air force like most of the other people on that bus.
Having never seen them, this cool ass mf /right hea/ would be there.

Pretty much. Deluna was kinda bobo in terms of their production values and set up. No rented palm trees etc going for some 'image' of what the beach looks like to a coke dealer from South Florida.
Deluna was straight up just a fest thrown on the beach. No search of your person going in, nothing blocking you from getting in the water. Way smaller crowds, it was so nice. It really felt like a locals event more than a national one like Hangout, even moreso than the first Hangout. Hilarious cartooney undercovers bringing the laffs as well.
Hulaween should do me a favor and add Hot Chip so I don't consider spending +$2k on Beach Vibez
Got some Hot Chip tickets for Aug 26th.
Also circling back on stadiums. Saw Foo Fighters at Pepsi Center a few years ago. My superfan friend convinced us to get there early and sit on the floor so we ended up rail for the entire show. Cage the elephant and mariachi el Bronx were the openers so bonus. Foos played for 3.5 hours it was 100% worth it.

Saw them last weekend in Atlanta. AMAZING!! The four encores was a little cheesy, but otherwise a perfect set. I lost my shit at From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea.

Yeah, I was there in dat Hotlanta on friday too. Had more fun at that show then both of the Nola shows. I try not to think of it as encores, but more of just breaks. I mean, when you play non-stop for an hour and a half...ya take a breather. It would be a whole lot cooler if they just broke it up into 2 full 75-90 minute sets though. And just 1 encore song.

Hangout 2017 - Don't mind us, we're just hanging out.
