The coolest thing about Rouse's is that they carry great local products you don't typically find in most larger grocery stores, and they move quantities of that. It's not cheap, and I have heard that some of the older stores aren't all that. But the newer ones that come on line are increasingly better.
Richie's Liqour Warehouse down the street from McGuires in Pensacola is THE place for liquor. Walmart for my beer and housewares. Condo didn't have a drain plug for sink. I asked around for better Shrimp and BBQ and bought a couple pounds from a fellow on County Line Road 10 and 59 (look for Shell station). Deeeeelicious with Sweet Baby Rays sauce. It was handy that the seafood shop was right next door. Guy new my brother from Pulaski TN and steamed me up a couple pounds of Jumbo Shrimp. I make my own cocktail sauce. Deeeelicious!
Spent the afternoon walking the beach and talking to the folks. Got a photo of the blue chairs and met the security guy from Nawlins. Swimming in the saltwater has already made my head clear up some. Hopefully more tomorrow. Water is perfect. New mattress soooo nice. The IWW staff reiterated their ok for prepartyThursday. I asked around about DJ on the beach and alcohol. The sign posted at IWW is pretty clear about not leaving equipment after dark, but doesn't speak to ongoing use. All agreed fining folks for drinking on the beach was laughable.
You found Down South BBQ in Bon Secour. That place has the best BBQ in the county and he sells it out of a walk up window in a little shack right down from the main highway. I stop at Richey's ever time I am in Pensacola. Great prices and a very large selection of beer and liquor.
LOL. No f'n way. But it's something that you have to figure if you fly into New Orleans, Pensacola, Mobile or Biloxi/Gulfport, there's only a limited amount of stuff you can bring on the plane and probably nothing in your non-checked items due to the fluid restrictions. It's easy to miss because you just probably drive straight down I-65, and we'd come straight down I-10. It's more or less an afterthought. FWIW, cmack pulled into town last night with one of his friends from Austin. We drank a few beers before they headed out. Haha. He'll be hungover multiple times before the pre-party.

Yep! Straight shot down 65 until I hit Baldwin county speed traps. And then Oh. My. God.
I've never met cmack. Hopefully, he comes to the party tomorrow and remedies that.
He's a fun and gentlemanly guy. We met at Wakarusa 15 when he camped with all my friends and family who were there. Then we hung for some of Euphoria last year but he was in and out due to a wedding. Finally he came down for Voodoo last year and stayed at the crib so we've gotten to be pretty tight. He's staying with Solidrock, so if he's going to y'all's party, I'd assume cmack would.
if any of you do see cmack make sure hes taking plenty of pics for me to look at and cry all weekend.
All I can confirm is that I witnessed his Harumbe Christmas Sweater again yesterday.
Btw, Sunday looks like the rainy day. Canadian Model has some off and on rain with a front draped ahead of the upper low in the great lakes washing out around the Gulf. The US Model has it much rainier on Sunday but still accumulation of < 1".
lol esteban just noticed your "status" under the Cornell pic. Nicely done.
haha, word. The hate diminished when Phoenix was added as a replacement, but I was on a Soundgarden/Temple of the Dog/Cornell YouTube kick last Saturday waiting for the Lettuce live stream from Red Rocks. Sweet Sunshower came on, and I remembered the ray of sun that came upon me from between the stage rigs into my face while that was playing. So I was feeling sentimental about what was probably my all time favorite Hangout set. Some of that show is on YouTube, but there are so many people talking in the background that it gets annoying. But of course, "though your garden's gray, I know all your graces someday will flower, in a sweet sunshower.
Heard from a local that the local weather station in gulf shores is saying 20% saturday and 30% sunday, which is far off from what the weather channel app is saying. hoping for the best!
They have really screwed traffic up from last time I was here. Still putting people going around construction areas on Wednesday and Thursday nights at risk. I don't know why they don't put sidewalks around the festival streets. They are building a sidewalk super highway down 59. All about the money.
Am I the only one who loads my booze (in the trunk) from my home city and brings it down? Am I missing something?
I would but I ran out of time! If I have time today between loading my car and getting everything ready to go, I will just go to the one here. Problem is, the closest one to my house is like 30 minutes away its stupid. I live in a dry city.

The idea of a dry city puts my brain in a pretzel. Can't even fathom it.

I didn't think I'd be so bummed about not going until today. Just thinking about the fact that this time one year ago, I was just busting open a fresh case of Yuengling and sitting on the balcony in my chubbies thinking about all the shenanigans that were about to ensue.

Tell me about it. My mom came in clutch and shes going to the liquor store for me right now.
I'm not sure there is anything I enjoy more than that morning walk down the beach. Had to be a couple miles this morning. The Hangout folks are putting up blinds to keep any of us from seeing someone behind the fence. Booooo! They should be signing autographs, taking photos with folks, etc. I remember Dave Grohl giving me a thumbs up when were we about fifty feet from each other in the gulf. This Shrimp and BBQ are excellent. So was that Margarita last night.
Decided to take some beers to the beach for the afternoon. May have to wake me up to go to Pink Pony.

Yeah it fuckin blows. This time last year I was smashing some seafood drinking a tall mug of beer with the gulf breeze blowing in my face. Idk what it is, but even with the subpar lineup last year, it still feels so nice to be down there this time of year. The last thing I was thinking about was Calvin Harris or The Weeknd. I was just soaking up every minute of being down there in that environment.
Fine I guess. I'm not a fan so I can't speak to it fairly. We came out of the restaurant stage after Vince Staples and the Chainsmokers were in the tent right there so we hung on the outskirts for 20 mins or so and then caught like 15 mins of The Weeknd. He didn't have his full production because of the storm but it was still solid (the production that is).
Also the StubHub sitch is pretty messed up and also leads me to believe this wasn't a true sell out so maybe that bodes well for those going. I would like them to take in on the chin once as they venture further and further away from the booking style from 10-15. Might cause them to tinker with that a bit. Roo can throw money at U2. Hangout doesn't have that luxury.
