advice please- my gang and i decided last minute (like two weeks ago) to go to hangout for the first time. since this was so last minute, shuttle passes were sold out and our hotel is in daphne about 45 minutes away so we're kind of freaking out about parking. any experienced hangout goers have advice on where we can park or how we can get to the fest?!

if I recall correctly, Uber isn't an option in gulf shores. But you can park slightly to the north and bike it(there are racks ready right outside the gate) or you can drive and park relatively close for about $20 a day.

Also the StubHub sitch is pretty messed up and also leads me to believe this wasn't a true sell out so maybe that bodes well for those going. I would like them to take in on the chin once as they venture further and further away from the booking style from 10-15. Might cause them to tinker with that a bit. Roo can throw money at U2. Hangout doesn't have that luxury.
All the realtors are pimping tickets, so I'd guess they're the reason it's a "sellout."

I have a friend that used pizza hut one year...he just called the businesses close by and some were willing for like $20/.

Yes, I was a big Chris Cornell fan. Amazing voice and musician. That Hangout sundown set was one of my favorites. Sending a prayer up for family and friends. He will be missed.

Damnit. Never had a good chance to see SG but loved saw Audioslave at my first festival. There were hints the Audioslave was gonna roll out again. This sucks big time.

Depression is one of the most overlooked and under estimated diseases in the books. Most artists are trying to crush that depression by bringing joy to the world, but it they don't always win that battle.
The best we can hope for is that this tragic loss re shines the spotlight on how crushing depression can be to any human. When Rob Williams passed, that was world ending for me. I just couldn't grasp a man bringing so much laughter and joy through my childhood could be in so much pain.

Yep. I lost my best friend to suicide several years ago. It really is a tragic and sad event. But it's more infuriating than anything. I honestly try not to mourn suicide victims too much because I don't think people should get that attention after they kill themselves. The more attention that Cornell gets for suicide (if it even was) the more likely someone else is going to off themselves to get the same attention.
I would go as far as comparing it to the attention the media gives school shooters blasting their name and mugshot on every channel and newspaper article. Don't give them the attention and name recognition that they want.

Hope it's not true about the suicide. Will say that (in general) suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Sending prayers to his family.

I'm sure most here have some experience with suicide whether it's old friends or family in some capacity. It really does suck. I agree with the sentiment that it's bullshit and selfish, but I still prefer not to think of the person that way. I completely get why most do though. From what I've read, he suffered from depression as a kid and started using at a pretty early age. There's just something about his death that makes my stomach turn moreso than some of the other artists that have passed over the years.
It's crazy, me and esteban were literally just talking about him in here 2 days ago when I brought up his status and avatar. Hopefully some of you guys got to hear that voice live because it was incredible. When he came out with Pearl jam at PJ20 in 2011, the first time I heard it, he gave me spine-tingling chills when he started singing. We've all heard his voice but there's something about hearing it live (albeit when it's in good shape and not overworked). Fuckin blows, man.

I've been through the "friends with depression" and it is hell. You hit the nail on the head about checking out and leaving survivors holding your bag. I've read that suicide is a very selfish act. And I agree. I hope people who loved Robin Williams, Belushi, Cornell, and others will start a real campaign to fight depression, suicide, other psychological disorders. I count my blessings everyday knowing the end will come sooner than I will want. Just want to live the remainder of my life loving and caring for my friends and go happily when the Lord calls.
