The Verve Pipe played kid's stage in 2011 on saturday and sunday. I would have totally caught them for the lulz, but there was too much other good stuff happening.

Hate to do this to you friend but I'm afraid you are incorrect. I personally remember being 12 or 13 and watching tenacious d show on HBO back in the day and a quick wiki search states the band was formed in 1994. The show didn't air til 1997 so we are coming up on that 20 year sweet spot for the show.
Tenacious D was a joke in the 90s that Black used in movies. They didn't put out an album until 2001. And they didn't start touring as a band until after that. NOBODY refers to them as a 90s band.
Why do you guys get so defensive anytime someone corrects you or tries to educate you?

I would get my ass handed to me in a slap fight in here. There like half a dozen Hangout thread white knights up in here that have taken a vow to protect each other's shit-posts. I just enjoy popping in occasionally and doing this when I catch one of them slippin':
Nirvana and Alice in Chains were 80s bands maaaaaaaaaaaan. ^There is more truth in that ridiculous statement than what you are trying to push, krisp.
When people use the label of a decade like 70s, 80s, 90s to describe a band like this, it is the decade that the band material and touring was the most prolific and popular. All of the examples that everyone, besides you, used were obvious because they were exclusively 90s bands for the most part...and fell off hard.
Tenacious D cannot accurately be described by a decade. They are more popular now than they were in 00s. dat grammy.
Honestly, I think Tenacious D are gonna have to put out a hell of an album to headline anything next year that isn't a buttrock fest. What were they billed at Riot last year? 10th? hell of an album...
