Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
This really is a nice festival although the sound bleed at the smaller stages is annoying. Fawn and I had a great time last year and it was worth the 12 hour drive.

I had a great time last year and was hoping to go again this year. Unfortunately, going to a festival the weekend before Bonnaroo would be exceedingly difficult for me. One thing that does not help is that my employer decided to strip all employees of all paid vacation time and didn't bother to tell anyone until two months into the year, meaning I have that much less time to save the money that both for the trip (NMF and Roo) and to pay bills.
The lineup looks okay (factoring in the cost and relatively short drive) but there is no one I am dying to see that I haven't seen. And the recent additions being announced without a Saturday headliner (apparently?) leaves me wondering who might still be added, which makes it harder for me to commit as the date gets closer.
2015 was great, and NMF is a real gem, but it looks like I'm out for 2016. Of course if a medium to large bag of money shows up at my door, or friends suddenly try to persuade me to go or someone I love is added to the lineup, things could change, but funds and Roo plans will probably keep me away this time.
If you love the lineup or are otherwise interested in this festival, GO! It's fun, the layout is simple and easy, the campgrounds are chill, the people are nice, the price is pretty low, and the crowds are small enough that you can get close to the stage or stay back and still be close enough to hear and see.
Everyone who goes needs to see Nightstalker! They are a local psych rock band out of Athens, and happen to be my friend's band. They got added today and I'm super happy for them! I wish I was there to go see them play a festival they've been attending themselves for years.
Are we seriously talking about the same Randy Newman? I swear I'm not kidding this is driving me nuts! The Guy who wrote "Short people"? The theme song to the TV show "Monk"? THAT Randy Newman, a rock & roll hall of fame inductee granted, that is the Randy Newman listed on the poster?
EDIT: Holy shit it is....That is SO WEIRD!
No, it probably is more this Randy Newman:
Srsly, this guy is so much more than Short People and Toy Story. Give a listen to these.
I dug a little more into his repertoire and even watched a documentary, because it fascinated me and he seemed wildly out of place on that lineup. I've only known of him through some really terrible songs. I'm still not a fan, it's not my thing but I got respect for the guy and it makes more sense now.
Glad you checked him out. As a guy old enough to have purchased those albums when they came out I formulated a much different opinion of him than the next generation did. Of course I can't blame them considering the songs that got all the airplay and the popularity of Toy Story. So I don't miss an opportunity to point out to them that the guy that wrote those lovable, light ditties also did these dark cynical pieces:
For those who are going to Nelsonville - I sadly can't get enough vacation time to do it and 'roo - check out Angela Perley and the Howling Moons. They're great!
Anyone else think Gillian Welch is a replacement headliner? Given how long it's taken them to announce this and the fact that she's as popular, or perhaps even not as popular, as Gary Clark Jr. and Randy Newman makes me think that NMF tried to book one of their "white whale" acts like Neil Young, Tom Waits, or Patti Smith and it fell apart at the last minute.

NMF is one of my all time favorite festivals. Every year I am introduced to music I love at this fest. I've always volunteered since it's just such an awesome atmosphere, you meet so many amazing people and since its a small fest, you see a lot of behind the scenes stuff by volunteering. Anyway, I wasn't originally impressed with this year's lineup but have done my research and now believe this year may be one of the best. This festival is always so inviting and just down to earth, it's impossible to have a bad time. I am concerned that there are predictions of Cicadas this year. I've never camped (or been to a festival) during a cicada year. Is anyone else worried about this? Are there ways to avoid them or make them avoid us?

Hey friends, wanted to get a little roundup of who is attending this year. I tried to meet up with some of you last year and it ended in a note being left at my campsite about how I had just missed all of you. So, who's going? Lets meet up and enjoy a beverage or two.
For anyone who's interested I put together a clashfinder for the schedule here: clashfinder.com/s/nmf2016/
The end times are based on educated guesses, but I did get a confirmation from NMF on Facebook that in general most sets are an hour long with a half hour of stage change.

I'm going and would be down for a meetup at some point

Now I am slightly less sad that I can't make NMF this year: they have announced that Gary Clark, Jr. has cancelled, with no replacement. I've recently fallen in serious like with Courtney Barnett, and it seems like she has earned quite a following recently, but this development leaves the festival seriously thin at the top of the lineup. I like Randy Newman, but GC was THE big name. Oh well, still looks like fun, and I still can't go.
The funny part of the email notice was that a couple lines below that announcement was a reminder that ticket prices will go up at the gate. Seemed like an odd combo - headliner cancels, is not replaced, so get your tickets now before we jack up the price (a few dollars).
Good luck to y'all who are going, I hope ya get great weather and have a ball.
