Need everyone's help..... I love Bonnaroo of course like most of you. If I can attend this year it will be my 5th year in a row. I am 21 by the way. Here's the problem though my girlfriend of 1 year. I introduced her to Bonnaroo last year and she loved it. Before we went she thought she was going to hate the hot weather and not like many of the bands playing. She didn't know how great Bonnaroo though. So she now knows my love for Bonnaroo and how great it is. She said it was the best time of her entire life and she never wants to miss another one. Well the problem is her brother (which I'm not very close with) wedding is on the 3rd day of Bonnaroo in Charleston,SC. I would really much rather go to Bonnaroo. Any suggestions guys on how to work this out?? Anytime I bring up the idea of going she tells me to not even bring it up cause it depresses her missing it. Thanks everyone!
If I had a sibling miss my wedding due to a music festival I would be super pissed. Seriously put yourself in her brother's shoes. There will always be another Bonnaroo. Her brother will only get married once.

this is america. let's be honest with ourselves. they won't make it 5 years.
EDIT: I voted wedding. Bc it's the right thing to do. But my divorce comment still stands.

Maybe you can reach a cool compromise and instead of having some lame DJ play the limbo you can set up a big screen TV and stream some of the fest at the wedding.
By the way, I voted Bonnaroo, but for full disclosure purposes I'm also super selfish, a fact I did not hide from my wife before the wedding.

"Hey, girlfriend's brother...yeah, I know you barely know me, but on the day of one of the biggest events of your life, can you forego all the music and dances you had planned, and instead have all your guests watch this pixelated livestream of Ween?"
See, that's what I'm talking about! What 75-year-old, pearl-wearing, gray-hair-all-made-up, rickety-dancing woman wouldn't want to rock out to some "Bananas and Blow." You know they'll play it, too!

It really depends on the couple. They might be the real deal. Not all marriages end in 5 years.
If you vote "Bonnaroo," then I sincerely hope you're looking forward to a lifetime of being the Creepy Single Old Person at music festivals.
It's really not so bad. It's better than being the Creepy Old Person at the playground, the Creepy Old Person at the bowling alley, the Creepy Old Person at WalMart, the Creepy Old Person standing under the pedestrian overpass at the middle school, or the Creepy Old Person just about anywhere else. I mean, yeah, you're a Creepy Old Person. But you're going to be that wherever you go. At least you're at Bonnaroo!
I think it depends on your relationship with her. I can easily see a scenario in which two very independent people would be comfortable doing separate things - you do Bonnaroo, she does the wedding. If she doesn't mind fielding the "Hey, where's your boyfriend at?" questions and her brother wouldn't care...then eh, it could work, especially if you planned a getaway for the two of you to do when you get back. Probably wouldn't be the best option for most people, but for some. Though a year in is a tricky part of the relationship - you've been together long enough to go to weddings together so this sounds like something serious, but you probably haven't been together long enough to know if your relationship would be completely stable if you did something separate. If you're still at all trying to establish yourself as a part of her family - and you want to be a part of her family, not just her boyfriend - then you should go to the wedding. If going separately isn't an option, then you should go to the wedding. For most people in most situations, you should go to the wedding.
Actually yeah dude just go to the wedding.

Bet you feel stupid for even asking now.
I'm skipping fucking Glastonbury for a wedding. If you essentially break up with your girlfriend for this pile of "can see anywhere, any time" bands, you deserve all the bad things in life.
I hear the band the bride and groom hired specializes in spectacular re-creations of songs by: .38 Special Aldo Nova April Wine Asia Billy Squier Boston Deep Purple Donnie Iris E.L.O. Foreigner Genesis Journey Kansas Loverboy Peter Gabriel Phil Collins Rainbow REO Speedwagon Rush Supertramp Styx The Who Toto Uriah Heep Zebra ...and more
Are the toilets and parking free at this wedding? It actually sounds like kind of an interesting package. My weekend just opened up and it's on my radar - how is the food menu looking? Are seats still open?

But what if the bride is high and the groom is a douche?
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

Prediction from the crystal ball:
You will tell her you are going to Bonnaroo. She won't immediately seem that mad. In fact, she seems pretty cool about it when you leave. Then at the wedding she has nobody to dance with and this makes her sad. So she goes outside to chill with the people who brought their own booze. She gets a little drunker than she planned on. She's now pissed she doesn't have anyone to dance with. She starts bitching to one of the bros outside trying to smoke out of his hitter box. He pretends to be compassionate. She ends up fucking him.

Are you predicting my wedding? Because you're totally uninvited for being a bro and pretending to be compassionate.
