Duran Duran. Saw hall and oates in October and it was very lackluster, low energy affair. Trombone shorty and Sharon Jones and the dap kings opened and both put them to shame. And Sharon Jones is still recover ing from cancer and hadnt even grown her hair back out yet.
Hall and Oates played the hits but looked like they hated doing it. I doubt Hall and Oates at bonnaroo would live up to chromeo/Daryl hall or Jim James/John oates.
They would probably be cheaper and billed lower though. Duran Duran was playing arenas, hall and oates was playing sheds over the summer.

I saw this same tour and thought Hall & Oates were great. And they played sheds with 15k+ capacities. Same type of venues Dead & Co played this summer

yeah, sheds. my point is that duran duran played arenas and shiz. duran duran is a much bigger act than hall and oates. they aren't interchangeable from lineup placement standpoint.
dead and co. played sheds, but they also played citi field, folsom field, alpine valley, fendway. places hall and oates couldn't dream of filling.

Don't sheds have larger capacities than arenas?
Sheds can vary greatly, from 6,800 (ascend amphitheatre) to 37,000 (Alpine valley). Possibly higher or lower, those two just popped in my head.
Wouldn't capitalizing on that via one day tickets make sense? A lot more people would buy the one day pass for U2 than RHCP. Just a thought.
Why wouldn't those same people buy single day passes to see U2 on Friday?
They probably would, but it might make for a nightmare crowd. Roo has done this long enough to have a good idea how many attendees leave before the dino headliner on Sunday. You sell those tix again, and keep the total population on Farm at @80k.

I agree with that line of thinking. The largest unknown variable is the reason why someone leaves early Sunday. If someone plans to dip out Sunday morning regardless of who headlines then U2 loses the drawing power for weekend passes.
Coming from NY, depending on vacation days for my crew, Ive had to leave before the headliner on Sunday in the past. If U2 is a major sell for me, idk of I'm making the trip if they're playing Sunday.
I love that Phyre Fest tossed this out about an hour after he laughed at the idea of U2 playing, and not long after he asked why people seemed to think RHCP was a lock. For a guy who said he was more or less out of the scoopz game, that was a pretty quick turnaround.
I honestly havent been keeping up much with the Roo scoopz this year. So I made those posts when I saw the speculation and took that speculation to some industry friends and they confirmed it, without knowledge of any inforoo or reddit crap.

I feel like we are WAY ahead of last year. Do we normally have our headliners at this point in the year?

Were they selling single days in 2013?
I *think* they were (I tend to hangout in the back for headliners which is were a lot of the day parkers stay). If I remember, there were a lot for Macca, and that's certainly an argument to book U2 early, but there's also a pretty big generation gap with U2, as has been seen here. A lot of the people who leave on Sunday are college kids who may not care to see U2 but will come for the experience and for Weeknd, Chance, and whatever Bassnectar/Skrillex type of EDM they book. The population who can afford those day passes tend to be wealthy enough to pay half a weekend ticket to see one show so probably old enough to make U2 that draw. It really depends whether they bank on U2 as a Macca/Bruce all weekend/RLaRS draw or as an Elton/Billy obvious pander to the day passers. I see arguments for both. Wouldn't hurt my feelings if RHCP was Sunday. Gets me home earlier. I might watch part of their set. Saw half in 2012 because the wife wanted to and we both regretted not skipping it to rail for Alice Cooper.

Last year the Pearl Jam email with the Bridgestone Arena person was posted on December 16th. I think we got the other ones shortly after.

That's roughly what I thought. Seems we are way ahead of the game
I wish I could remember when we got the '15 headliners. I remember constantly refreshing the thread the night before BLAM in '14 to find out Lionel Richie was 4th on the lineup if you want to count that as a headliner. But yeah, seems we are pretty early this year.

It was early January. At least that's when insider was posting.

Insider came by the week of BLAM to play the riddle game and eventually began dropping the headliners.

I don't think I was even posting here during this but I remember sitting in my room refreshing the thread over and over. Fun night lol
