I think the best case scenario right now is a Lollapalooza lineup. Some good bands, some bad bands, but very little of the WTF and esoteric bookings a lot of people looked for at Bonnaroos past.
I am very optimistic and excited. I think some around here will hate, but it wont be nearly as bad as last years lineup, and is sure to get more people there overall.
I'd love to share your enthusiasm, it's just hard to get pumped up at almost any of the mocks we come up with. Even the "OK guys here is the best case scenario" type mocks.
Having said that, I would love to be pleasantly surprised tomorrow.

How about compared to 2015?
i thought the 2015 lineup was great. looking at my taste in music now that was a great lineup. i think this years will be fine
Never thought I'd say this, but so far Hangout has one of my favorite lineups. I love Mumford, Frank, and Chance and don't mind 21P and Major Lazer like a lot of people. Sigur Ros and Franz Ferdinand make it interesting, plus there are some other acts I haven't gotten to see yet like Mac Demarco and Bob Moses. And there's Shaggy. All of that down by the beach sounds like a really enjoyable weekend to me.

Im pumped because I know ill be going again. After no festivals last year I need a vibez refill anyway I can get it. Plus with the bands we already have confirmed, I can already say im happy with it. Things are looking up for LN potential this year, I couldn't even kid myself into liking last years lineup or justifying the cost/travel.
After seeing everything out there, I'm actually leaning towards it being a little better than 2015. Headliners are already better, and I think the undercard will be about the same, if not slightly better as well.

if i lived close i would def do hangout. but i cant justify tickets for 2 plus a hotel for 3 nights. i do like the lineup though. twenty one pilots great live

We don't really have any evidence about the undercard though. That's the scary part. They may have went in a completely new direction.

U2 - Red Hot Chili Peppers - The Weeknd - Chance tha Rapper
Lorde - Alt-J - Modest Mouse - Martin Garrix - Duran Duran - Wiz Khalifa - Flume
Cage the Elephant - St. Vincent - PJ Harvey - Animal Collective - Marshmello - Schoolboy Q - Hall and Oates
Trey Anastasio Band - Glass Animals - Beach House - Air - Franz Ferninand - Pusha T - Umphrey's Mcgee - Borgore
Pretty much best case, but maybe Roo has a few more artists that haven't been on other lineups yet.
Duran Duran AND Hall and Oates?
Flume and Martin Garrix? Chance and Schoolboy Q? Alt-J and Glass Animals?
You're definitely right, I just hate that that has to be a rule. In '13 they booked Macca, Petty, David Byrne, ZZ Top, Billy Idol, John Oates in the SJ...
With Shaky's underwhelming lineup (IMHO), is it just a down year for or did Bonnaroo and Livenations pocketbook flex its muscle? Guess we will find out tomorrow.
