I would enjoy it if they revisited the attention to world music that they once had. This was the lightest year for that by far. And man, I just looked back at the 2015 lineup, I feel like 2016 was way better. That top line was horrible.
While I had a good time in 2015, it was the first year of left feeling indifferent about the whole weekend. Some good artists, but scheduling conflicts severely cut down on realization. And besides the Kendrick/mau5 pairing the headliners were completely uninspired.
This year had a good schedule for me which kept me busy for a good 12 hours a day, topped off with a solid headliner Fri/sat/sun.
Still, will I need a better undercard to return in 2017? Yeah I will.
May Tycho May Phoenix June Rooo July MMJ and Margo Price August Queen with Adam Lambert August Roger Waters (Bucket list #1) August Spoon and Portugal the man Sept Depeche Mode Sept Pilgrimage Fest
Ray LaMontagne with MMJ backing is an amazing show and if he's still touring would be a great round up to the top 6-10. Here's to dreaming Fleetwood Mac/ Beyoncé/ Arcade Fire/ Beck/ Pretty Lights/ Paul Simon/ Chance the Rapper/ Prophets of Rage/ Ray LaMontagne or Ryan Adams

I'd love to see Dave Matthews Band return to the farm, they're incredibly talented and consistent, play diverse setlists, and are an absolutely chill way to end a weekend.

I have no beef with DMB (personally not a huge fan of their music, but I can understand the appeal), but they would be a very uninspiring choice for a headliner. They tour extensively every year, and they've already headlined twice.

I love them but I completely agree with the bolded.

So what festival is everyone thinking about doing if Bonnaroo completely blows it next year?
I'd love to do Coachella but it's just at a tough time of year work-wise, especially since I already take a day or two off for jazzfest around that time. Shakey Knees always looks cool and I can drive there, which is a plus. But the festival that really intrigues me is Movement. Electronic music is far and away the most interesting current genre to me and I'd like to explore it further, even if I don't recognize most of the names on last year's lineup, I'm willing to learn.
I'm going to go to Bonnaroo every year because it's like home to me, but I'd like to add Levitation to my list if they are able to pull it off again.
even if Bonnaroo's lineup is completely terrible next year I'd still have difficulty not going, just because it does feel so good to be there. but I'm trying to be real with myself: even though I had a great time this year, and managed to keep myself entertained all day, a lot of what made bonnaroo great this year was three great headliners. And three great headliners never happens at bonnaroo. Usually I considered myself lucky if there is one headliner I'm excited for and another I'm OK with seeing, but that's when the undercard is filled with exciting acts I'd have a hard time catching somewhere else.
So if its a weak undercard and weak headliners in 2017? I'll have to find something else. Or just go to more Phish shows.

Assuming Sasquatch happens again next year I'd like to try that. I'd like to hit the Gorge at some point in my life, that's a good weekend for me to travel with work schedules and the extra day off, and the lineups are always decent enough.

Heard great reviews from everyone I know who's made it up to movement.
So would Phish be a good headliner for Bonnaroo next year in most folks eyes?
Phish would be a big draw for a lot of Bonnaroo vets. I'm not too familiar with their music, but they have a deep catalogue, and it sounds like they're a reliably good live act. That being said, they've already headlined twice, and I would prefer some fresh blood in that #3 spot (an act that hasn't headlined and/or an has never played Bonnaroo) rather than recycling older jam bands.

Every live music fan should hit The Gorge at least once. It's one of the best places I've ever been.
