There's no way bonnaroo would book the weeknd AND drake. It will probably be one or the other.
Eh, Drake would be Top 3 and Weeknd could be #4. Feasible. ACL had Drake, The Weeknd, and Future all on the lineup just this past year. Drake was #2, Weeknd was #5 (technically #4 since Florence and Strokes alternated weekends/were both #3), and Future was a couple rows down.
That being said, I really don't want both the Weeknd and Drake, let alone one of them.
The Weeknd wouldn't be billed any lower than 3rd. Like it or not, he's a headliner from this point forward. Beauty Behind the Madness was huge.

If Arcade Fire is number one next year and the following two headliners are actually less popular and not just getting underbilled, Roo is in big trouble

can i get an example
Of a top line where Arcade Fire would be number one with two less popular headliners? Arcade Fire - Beck - Future
I thought the point was to show a lineup with Arcade Fire as a #1 and two legitimate headliners below them. I don't know if they're a #1, but they were #2 in 2011 and haven't declined in popularity since then. If they're on the lineup next year they're a #2 at the lowest.

Future is not a headliner.
He's headlining Lollapalooza, and is as popular as Kendrick was when he headlined. Perhaps a case like 2015 where he's a dual headliner with someone like Calvin Harris at #2 would make more sense, but the point still stands.
I feel like the Kendrick/Future comparison isn't valid. Kendrick always had critical appeal and released a monstrosly successful album that was on every end of the year list I saw. Future is just doing the same thing everyone else is and is just a little more popular than the others. The collab with Drake definitely helped too. I just feel like they are too different to compare.

"headlining" lollapalooza and headlining bonnaroo are two very different things
Arcade Fire are still a #2. Unless their new album is startlingly huge, and they push themselves to #1. But they just won't be a 3. Can this discussion end now?
Future isn't a headliner, he's not taking the What Stage at like 9pm with just a DJ and yelling over a backtrack. It's just not happening. Also while Future is popular, people don't love him in the same way people love Kendrick or J.Cole.

Future, despite his polarizing songs, has decent critical appeal as well. Also, Bonnaroo booked Kendrick before TPAB released, and got really lucky banking on his success.
The whole point was to put headliner or near-headliner caliber acts that would be billed below Arcade Fire if they were #1. As much as I love Arcade Fire, they're not a strong number one act unless their next album propels them to that level. A #2 act sure, and #3 act probably. Upon thinking about it a bit more, I could see Roo pairing an EDM act with Future to save money and bank on recognizable acts.

With all this arguing over where Arcade Fire would be billed, I'm going to have a good laugh if they don't end up on the lineup. But for real, the order of likelihood is #2 > #3 > #1. If Arcade Fire is #3, Roo spent good money on the first two names, and if Arcade Fire is #1, Roo will further cement its descent into second-tier status.
