He played a few years ago and was stellar. I'd welcome him back, for sure. The name that caught my eye was Unknown Mortal Orchestra. They played Paris last year and could see them getting booked for Chicago this one.
E: just went back and saw he played Paris too. Fingers crossed.
UMO is playing Chicago on May 10th. Not sure it makes a difference for their odds to play Pitchfork, but worth mentioning.
Ohh. This is that game where I need to recheck dates. They announced that tour with Lower Dens so long ago, I forgot.

I guess I could see The Alabama Shakes headlining this, as well as Sufjan. So I guess the question is who the third headliner will be? None of those acts could close out.
Be kinda cool if Operators played as well as Wolf Parade. A double shot of Dan B.

It was mentioned on Reddit as well, but i could definitely see Erykah Badu as a headliner. She is both a legacy artist as well as filling that hip hop/soul headlining spot they have done the last few years (Kendrick, Chance, R Kelly). It would be great to see her and she would probably have some special guests.

I couldn't imagine Bryan Ferry headlining this fest. That being said the footage from his Coachella set a few years back was magical and I love me some Roxy Music, so I'll be catching him this summer barring any cancellations.
That Faronheit guy doesn't know shit. He takes guesses like we do and acts like he has some sort of "insider knowledge". He does this for Pitchfork and Lolla every year and throws out mostly obvious acts with a few left field choices that end up being totally wrong.
Not sure about that. I think Pitchfork has a boner for Roxy Music and they seem to cover Ferry pretty often as well.
When's the last time they booked a deliberate nostalgia act? Older acts I can think of in the last five years like Bjork or Pavement don't really fit that same mold.

Ummm, Neutral Milk Hotel. The band hasn't put out any new music in over 18 years. That was pure nostalgia.

Same reason I don't really count Pavement: Reunion act that plenty of younger people who follow Pitchfork wanted for years. I'd love to be proven wrong, but unfortunately I don't think Bryan Ferry falls in the same mold. He doesn't appeal to a younger audience who feel like they missed out, he appeals to an older audience who wants to hear the hits.
That being said I am a younger person who wants to see him, so hopefully there are more?

His popularity was certainly boosted by his Random Access Memories appearance, but Giorgio Moroder?

I'm thinking he got the RAM/DAft Punk boost you mentioned plus I imagine Bryan Ferry would ask for a bit more $$$.
I did some brief research. Here are some groups that P4K loves, would make sense and don't have conflicting tour dates (if any).
Sufjan Stevens (No Chicago dates; Playing Red Rocks 18 July) Grimes (Nothing scheduled after 28 June UK date) Kamasi Washington (No Chicago dates; Red Rocks 16 July (Sat), could play Friday or Sunday?) Oneohtrix Point Never (Chicago dates in mid-March; Nothing after 21 May) Julia Holter (Chicago date early March; Huge gap between March and mid-August) Floating Points (Doesn't exactly seem likely, but there's nothing between 25 June and 18 August; He'll probably stay in Europe or come back for Lolla or some shit) Deerhunter (Essentially nothing going on barring a few fests; Presumably a major tour announcement will answer this question) Neon Indian (Not much here; Primavera in June, nothing after that) Lower Dens (Dates throughout February, nothing in Chicago) The Range (No dates, but he gets more and more love from them with each passing month) Operators (Chicago date 28 March, but come on; this one makes too much sense) Thao & The Get Down Stay Down (Chicago date 1 April; Nothing after 30 April) Animal Collective (They're gonna be fucking everywhere this year; Chicago date in Feb; They're P4K darlings, though, so who knows) Santigold (Chicago date 17 April; Nothing after early May)
This was interesting, though mostly a waste of time.
Animal Collective's website is unsurprisingly trippy as all hell.

The previous two years, the lineup got announced in mid Feb. So I could see it getting announced sometime next week. They used to wait a lot later to announce the festival and would slowly introduce the lineup in pieces. But i think they really want to get a jump start on Lollapalooza which generally announces its lineup early-mid April.
