Is there a decent after show selection most of the time? Beach House nowadays is an easy skip for me. A Kamasi after show would be great because he wont get a long enough set.

There's not a lot, but there's usually some good stuff. Last year had Ariel Pink/Mr Twin Sister, How to Dress Well/Lower Dens, Protomartyr/Bully, Natalie Prass, and I remember there was a really good bill at Berlin that had Daphni and a few others on it

The after show selection is what makes this festival great, imo. There is usually one a night that kills a bad conflict for you. There's also the possibility of a few more bands being added to a show or two. I don't think I've ever paid more that $15 for a show, too.

I'd like to pop in here and make fun of Carly Rae Jepsen's inclusion on the lineup, but if I was going this year I'd probably check out her show if there weren't any horrible conflicts. It's harmless 80ish pop. I am interested in hearing how she's received.

It's funny how one booking at a festival that most people won't attend drives some people up the wall. Don't worry friends, no one will force you to see her.
Carly Rae Jepsen nice!! I wish she got booked at more festivals, but hipsters love Carly Rae so it makes sense for her to be here. I actually had a couple friends go to one of her shows recently.

I really, really, really, really, really, really wanted to go to the Atlanta show. A friend had the nerve to schedule his wedding that weekend.
And y'all please keep ragging on Carly Rae. It's nice to know who around here is wrong.
A Pitchfork spokesperson told Chicago the closers are Carly Rae Jepsen/Beach House/Broken Social Scene on Friday, Brian Wilson/Sufjan Stevens on Saturday, and Miguel/Jeremih/FKA Twigs on Sunday. But given Pitchfork’s triangular setup, only two acts can play at any given moment, and one will be confined to the festival’s small, acoustically problematic Blue Stage.

You guys. Back in 2013 I worked in a sweet yet kinda-shitty-in-retrospect restaurant/bar in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I was the dishwasher there. The head chef each shift had control of the radio. Sometimes we would listen to classic rock, sometimes we would listen to country, sometimes we would listen to whatever radio stations play songs like Call Me Maybe. I knew pretty much every lyric to that song. A few months later I found out that my best friend from high school and his girlfriend and our other friend from a past college were coming back to Iowa to go to the State Fair, where, lo and behold: Carly Rae Jepsen was the main attraction. I was surrounded by literally thousands of girls ages 7-17, but goddamnit if I didn't have a fucking blast at that concert.
Someone's sig on this website quotes a member who made an excellent point along the lines of being confused by people who couldn't get fucked up at a Mac Miller show and have a good time. I think this applies.

I'm gonna have a blasty-blast at that shit.
Sit down, man.
Good news now is that she actually has some great tunes to go with the fun show.

I know this was answered already, but here's a link to the announcement for last year's afters. I think they might have added one or two more shows after the initial announcement.
Just for fun I made a mock schedule. It's sort of hard to tell who's going to end up where without any billing order, and there's a few things I don't like (i.e., Sun Ra Arkestra getting less than an hour and it seems like there's not enough bigger acts on Blue) but mostly I just wanted to think of some possible conflicts in advance:

Looking at that mock schedule clarifies that I'm really really sad I won't be at this.
I am paying just over $200 for the festival. Keep in mind this is without night shows and L money but totally doable. You can come up with that, I bet.
E: and Shuck, if that holds true, looks like I'll be living at the Blue all weekend. Nothing new there. It's my favorite the past two times I've gone.

Including travel? I don't have any friends in Chicago so I wouldn't have a place to stay &&&& I'd have to fly up there. My costs would be wayy more than 200, sadly

Partly wishful thinking, but I think Shamir would play the main and CRJ would sub BSS. I would also hope Super Furry Animals get a later slot due to seniority.
Would there be any way for them to give Kamasi and Sun Ra Arkestra more time? Otherwise this schedule would be perfect.

To address these points: with Pitchfork's alternating main stages, that's exactly what I put for Shamir/CRJ/BSS - unless you mean that you think that Shamir will get a later time slot, which I don't think so, given that CRJ is easily more popular. SFA could definitely get a later slot; the Digable Planets/SFA/Savages/Blood Orange slots were a bit hard to schedule since I'm pretty sure all four of those acts will play the Green/Red stages but have no idea what order they will since one of them is a reunion, and two of them (Savages/Blood Orange) are ostensibly more popular than the other two. Lastly, Kamasi and Sun Ra Arkestra pretty much won't get more than an hour unless one of them either subs (given the options, no), headlines (lol), or closes out the Blue Stage with an extended set (which I don't think has ever happened).
