I am paying just over $200 for the festival. Keep in mind this is without night shows and L money but totally doable. You can come up with that, I bet.
E: and Shuck, if that holds true, looks like I'll be living at the Blue all weekend. Nothing new there. It's my favorite the past two times I've gone.
Including travel? I don't have any friends in Chicago so I wouldn't have a place to stay &&&& I'd have to fly up there. My costs would be wayy more than 200, sadly
Unless for some ungodly reason they made Wilson close the Blue during Sufjan on the green. I assume that the article that was linked above is referring to Wilson closing the RED and Sufjan closing the GREEN.

Trying to convince my friends to go to this over Forecastle. Aside from the general dopeness of this lineup, what would be the best tack to use? I don't know much about crowd size, ease of parking, etc.
Well for starters Chicago > Louisville. It's a smaller fest, I think capacity is around 20k per day. I've never driven but Union Park is very easy to get using public transportation.

I've never been to Forcastle, so I can't compare them, but P4K is one of my favorite festivals. First, it is a great bargain. One of the cheaper tickets out there and the fest always has really good music/performances. Getting to the festival is easy. The Green and Pink lines' Ashland stop is right outside the front gates. If you'd rather drive, it is relatively easy to find free and safe parking in nearby neighborhoods.
The crowd size is fine. I've never thought to myself, "Fuck, is it crowded!", even with the small size of the festival's grounds. In fact, the festival's smaller size benefits attendees. It's impossible to find a bad spot. You can even be relaxing under the shade in an area away from the crowd and still be in a good position to watch the show. The Red and Green stages are positioned so close together, and have alternating sets, so you can literally stay in the same spot all day and catch everything on those two stages. The Blue stage is tucked away in a shade covered area on the opposite end of the park. It has that intimate-show feeling that you get at smaller venues. The festival has good food, good beer selection, and a pretty cool market place.
When the music is done at the park, you are only a short cab ride away from taking advantage of any after show opportunities.

With Brian Wilson announcing a date near me, I'm out for this. Super sad but I'm seeing all of my "must see's" minus LUH and Whitney and the lack of "heavy" is disturbing to me.
I hope you folks have a blast at this though. It's a fun little lineup.

Efffff. I reserve the right to change my mind.
The Avalances and Swans could be my deciding factors.
That I'm not 100% sure about. That particular quote was in reference to the Since I Left You tour, but the only videos I've seen are from the late 90s.
The Avalanches keep adding festival dates, including 7/24 at Fuji Rock and 6/11 at Wild Life in the UK. I think it's getting more and more likely that we'll see them get added to this.

How soon should we expect to see a schedule for this bad boy? I've already got large portions of my Roo and Lolla planned and I need this to complete my Triple Crown of festival scheduling.
