Cymande's first album is a long-time favorite of mine. Their name made me do a double take when I saw it on the initial line-up, and it's definitely a killer booking...
But that being said...
Given the target market of modern-day Bonnaroo, it doesn't surprise me that they haven't gotten much attention here in the threads. Generally speaking, people who listen to Macklemore & Ellie Goulding don't give a shit about musical history, and that's really unfortunate.

I really like this booking. There are a few things like this sprinkled in the lineup keeping me from completely ruling Roo out. I know I could get a full day of music each day out of the lineup.

ashamed to admit i'd never heard of these guys. first listen this morning, really great booking. thanks to the OP and everyone else that kept pointing this out.
The apparent few of us could hype this show all day and all night and it will still be comically underattended. See you there
You say that but I really think this year is going to be different. As much as people are poo-pooing on the line-up, it seems that this year Bonnaroo made a conscious effort to go back to their roots a bit.
Between The Dead and Co., Les Claypool, Ween, Lettuce, Father John Misty, Touchpants (comedy rock band including the drummer of Phish, who will be playing two sets in the comedy tent according to their facebook), Kurt Vile, Mavis Staples, Sam Bush Band, and pretty much the whole bluegrass/folk stage on Sunday, The Floozies, Papadosio, Flux Capacitor, Vulfpeck, etc. There's a whole lot of hippies most likely going to be there. I understand Kurt Vile and Father John Misty aren't exactly hippie music nor is Mavis Staples but it dances the delicate line of folk and less offensive sounds for hippies. I really think that those people are the ones that would love something like Cymande. For those of you that haven't been to Roo during the hippie days. Its a much different scene and I am very much excited about it.

i mean it's not going to be a dead zone or anything but atomic bomb is about the max i could see attending.
I laid out a similar list of bands in the headliner thread a little while back in response to why Phish fans seemed to like the lineup. It is deep for that funk/grass/jazz/jam/folk array of tastes you tend to find prevalent in that community.
