With the tour break in Lettuce's schedule from june 3rd to june 9th is making my scratch my head. Lettuce says they are playing on thursday on their website but bonnaroo has them on sunday. My idea was lettuce would have the superjam because of the break in their tour. Lettuce run funk jam would be sweet
What will probably forever remain the greatest hip hop show I'll ever see was the Hip Hop SJ at Roo in 2013 with Lettuce as the backing band. I had already seen Wu Tang just hours earlier (which was good) but then most of the members came out and performed a lot of their hits off 36 Chambers but with Lettuce as the backing band and it was wayyyyy better than the actual Wu Tang show. Just saying this to confirm that lettuce being involved in any kind of Superjam that is supposed to make you dance is always great. To me, they've yet to put on a Superjam that compares to either of the LN SJ's of 2013
I don't think they will ever be able to top the "rock and soul" superjam in 2013. That set was outrageous!
2004 was pretty epic as well, and included some of the dudes from lettuce (krasno, evans, deitch) plus george porter, maceo parker, stanton moore and others. listen here
but 2005 is easily my favorite. core band of herbie quacking hanrooster, lionel louke, ?uestlove, and pino palladino. no covers. doesn't have the sing along familiarity of more recent SJ, but this show was why I loved bonnaroo in the first place, an all improv set of jams from some gosh darn masters of their craft.
Honestly as long as it is (bass)guitar-driven it should be great. Between Deaner, Mayer, Krasno and Les you can't go wrong. Wouldn't expect mccready to do anything more than cameo right after a full show.
Wasn't Miguel originally leaked as a part of the Throwback Superjam last year?
I'd assume he will be apart of this in some capacity. Especially considering his involvement in the Okee PowWow.
I like your avatar pic, that's cool. assuming that's from roo? there aren't a lot of good roo campgrounds night time shots, looking at your pic made me feel like I was trudging around the campground at 2am. good feeling.

Yes sir. One of my favorite pics from my years at Roo.
If I remember correctly its from 2011, walking back to Centeroo for late nights Saturday after a quick stop back at camp.

I had a dream that bonnaroo announced the superjam would be a "girl power" superjam led by Brittney Howard. I'm not sure what led my brain to come up with this...

Interesting, this is the first I heard about Lettuce playing on Thursday. Unless that is just a plceholder on their website, maybe they will be the band that shows up in whole or in different parts all weekend? I could see them playing the Thursday night VIP show, SJ and their own set on Sunday. Plus I could see guest appearances by Krasno and Deitch with other bands

I have high hopes for this...it seems like the only sanctum from the hip hop and bleep bloop on the late night (not hating anyone who listens to that, just not my thing)

You know I think I would find this extremely fulfilling. Though I feel like "girl power" would be too fruity a name for anything Brittney Howard related.

I'd love it if they brought Sturgill Simpson back as a surprise Superjam artist and had him play with some of Charles Bradley's Dap Kings. His schedule allows it, and his new album suggests it would be perfect.

Seriously that new album is perfect, him and bradley getting down would be fantastic!

I love the idea. Alabama Shakes played in 2012 and Brittany Howard was a special guest in the 2013 Superjam.

They have not yet seized an opportunity to pay tribute to anybody after their death in a super jam. I don't expect them to do so this year, either.
I loved it the first time you pointed this out and am glad you are doing it again. To go a step further, they have never themed the superjam around a single artist or multiple particular artists, dead or alive.
At least since I've been going, they have revolved around genres or decades.
