Justin Timberlake writes almost all his songs with Timbaland, is he a band?
I dunno, does he have an award for being the most successful virtual band? That's the part that gets me. Just because the band is virtual doesn't negate its status.

Also from my understanding of the rules it is not required to be a band to be eligible, only that it is not be a solo project. Being a solo project disqualifies and act, in which case I think the rulings on NIN and Gorrillaz are fair.

Do you think NIN is a band?
No, because there's been no other musicians that have performed with the band consistently, like there has with the 2 instrumentalists in Gorillaz that have been in the band continuously since it started.

I was there one that brought up Gorillaz, and My main point would be that all of the albums give songwriting credits to the virtual members. Even though it's only Albarn.
Either way, I'm not gonna quit based on a few rulings.

I don't really care if Gorillaz are considered a band or not, my point is we could debate all of these and that's why having someone that isn't playing make the decision is helpful.

Lol, I was wondering when this would come up. I'd argue no because a lot of solo artists do have these longstanding collaborations. Even bands do, Radiohead always collaborating with Nigel Godrich does not make Radiohead and Nigel Godrich a band. Justin and Timbaland do not exist as an entity onto themselves.
Sang and Katy, who do you consider "not a band?" I'll take it under advisement.
I just answered this before you asked. The only reason I was against the people voting for someone like Prince earlier is because I thought that was supposed to be the rules.

I'm a much bigger fan of discussions like the one we're having among the group itself than having 1 person make that decision. Like I said though, it doesn't really matter, we're all just doing this to waste time until the next pick.
I got sent home from work sick today as well, so I'm a miserable bastard right now.

But Prince doesn't "always perform solo." There are very few artists I can think of that "always perform solo" very few of whom would even get drafted in something like that.

You misunderstood the rules. And they did not select Prince they got Prince and the Revolution, which does exist as a band.

You're right. When I made my draft board I made my list of bands that I would pick or that I thought would be picked. I also made a list of people that are known as solo artists that I would like to be in this but they were not allowed just because they go by their name and don't always have the same people playing with them. Then people started picking some of those bands. But when it got really ridiculous is when you said NIN is not a band. Of course it's a band. If you go see them live you're going to see a band, not just Trent.Personally I wouldn't include anyone like Timberlake or Beyoncé or whoever but I wouldn't object if someone else wants to. It's your pick, go for it. That's how I'd like to see it go.
