Biography Cymande the British-based Funk music pioneers, emerged as innovators of the funk music scene during the early-1970s. Influenced by their Caribbean heritage, the band combined Reggae and Rastafarian rhythms with funk, soul, R&B, jazz and rock to create a new and exciting sound which captivated audiences throughout the United Kingdom and the United States as well as Europe and the continent of Africa. The Music of Cymande conveyed a true spirit of togetherness reflected in the band’s emblem which incorporated a dove with the head of a Rastaman symbolizing peace and love. Surviving members reunited in 2014 to produce a new album and tour. Genre Funk, Reggae, Soul, Liquid Sex
Suggested Listening The one that started it all. Cymande - Cymande
Youtube some stuff so that I don't have to!
Physical Reaction/Live Show I anticipate this show to be similar to the Atomic Bomb! show. What was arguably one of the best sets of the weekend, for the 1,250 in attendance. Don't miss this show.
Interesting Facts Something about calypso word for dove.
Personal Notes This is a very unique grab for blanaroo, the music is funky and you can dance your ass off to it without a second thought. As an aside, this is also the show that emoney will make a thread next year for, berating everyone who chose to go to (X) instead.
The band's two founders, Patrick Patterson and Steve Scipio, are part of the reunion band, and all the band's other current members were also part of the original band.
Gonna be funky. Hopefully it isn't in the sixth ring of schedule hell like Atomic Bomb last year against MMJ and Gary Clark Jr. make this during Mack and Halsey instead of Tame and Ween or LCD and Band of Horses, please.
Also my money is on Con Brio for the underattended dance party of the fest (until they inevitably land on thursday)
