This method makes the results mean nothing for me since the level of excitement for each act isn't taken into consideration. I've gotten bored and done something like this in the past, but you should rank level of excitement for each act you marked that you want to see. maybe on a 1-5 or 1-10 scale. 10 being McCartney or whoever and 1 being a one album Thursday act you enjoy but probably won't listen to much after Bonnaroo. Then add all of those up.
interesting idea, but the problem when i do that is it's immediately going to swing heavier towards 2016 simply because there are more acts on my 2016 list. comes out to:
2015 - 211 2016 - 313
i've got 14 more acts on my 2016 list so they add up quick. I did also take an average of all my excitement numbers:
2015 - 6.4 2016 - 6.7
which makes things appear a lot closer.
See, but now I know for sure that 2016 wasn't just a bunch of 1-2 excitement level acts vs. 9-10s of 2015. Makes me feel better. And that average swung towards 2016. Using all three of these tests I think you can feel pretty good about which year you like more.
It is important we determine the average of all our excitement numbers so we can best quantify how much enjoyment we will derive from Bonnaroo 2016 as compared to Bonnaroo 2015. Please kindly submit your excitement numbers for evaluation.

Fine! 2015: 24 2016: 34
I had already voted 2016. I didn't have one headliner I wanted to see last year, this year I have two.
So I just did a quick quantification of 2015 vs 2016 for my own personal tastes, using the headliner pool rules. Headliner 3 pts, other 1 pt. I went through 2015 and ticked all the acts I was excited to see, or even would be excited to see given current knowledge (not who I actually saw, because conflicts etc), and the same for 2016. Came out like this:
2015 - 37 points 2016 - 53 points
At least 3 points of the difference is an additional headliner (I counted both kendrick and mau5 as headliners, so 6 points for them). The rest is undercard. Weird, didn't expect it'd be that big.

2016 - 213 2015 - 152
Had little to no interest in nearly any bottom-half bands last year as opposed to having three of my 9s or 10s in the bottom seven or eight lines in 2016. It doesn't bother me that some of the bands that are making this year better for me are not popular. Frankly that just means I have a better chance to go see them.

Would you mind revealing a couple of 9 or 10 artists from the bottom seven lines? I'm not trying to out you. I need help with my research.

I know this wasn't directed at me, but Vulfpeck and The Floozies are two of my 9s.
I'd never heard of Vulfpeck before but now I'm seeing their name everywhere. Multiple jazzfest night shows, lock'n, etc.
Just a quick question is the comparison between the initial lineup drops or is it the comparison of the lineup in totality?
This is the most important question asked so far. Best act of last year for me was D'Angelo and that was a later announcement.
They also dropped a few placeholder items this year that could be amazing if we had more info (i.e. Comedy Jam, Superjam, or the structure/timing of the Dead & Co 2nd show). I'm veering this year because the homework assignment has been a revelation of artists I haven't had the chance to hear before or see live: Blood Orange, The Internet, Cymande, Death Cab, Daughter, Claypool outside of the Primus bubble, Tyler. We could be surprised by a few interesting adds too.
Even just tryin' to look only at the lineups...it doesn't work that well especially if you went to the fest last year. I can't compare the years until a week or two after this year and I'll be anxious to do so.
