Members: Megan James (vocals) and Corin Roddick (instrumentals).
Biography: I spent a lot of time summarizing info from Wikipedia and a few interviews in my initial post that then disappeared when I tried to submit it. Sry not sry, I am just going to make this very short now - I feel like people don't read this part much anyway, since they can just check Wiki on their own.
But, to briefly summarize, James and Roddick are from Edmonton, Alberta, and they first played together in a band called Born Gold (previously Gobble Gobble) before branching off to form their own act. Roddick had begun experimenting with electronic production and asked James to contribute vocals to a track titled "Ungirthed," and this marked the genesis of Purity Ring. The song was released in January 2011; the following year, Purity Ring announced that they had signed to record company 4AD worldwide and Last Gang Records in Canada.

Physical Reaction/Live Show:
This duo puts on a pretty fantastic show together. Their live show is a bit more nuanced than a lot of electronic music groups tend to demonstrate - the "dream pop" genre title fits well for them because I think they exhibit a fairly dreamlike dynamic on stage. If you're looking for an unz unz electronic show, Purity Ring might not meet your expectations, as their live performance is understated, almost tranquil. Megan sounds great live and floats around the stage like a pretty little fairy type creature. Corin does awesome things with his self-created tree-like decorative instrument that provides both sound and lights for their shows. Take a look at this video:
Purity Ring's second album, Another Eternity, was not as critically well received as Shrines, but I found that it translated incredibly well to their live show. "Begin Again" and "Push Pull" were two standouts for me from when I saw them during their fall tour. Overall, I absolutely recommend this show!
