Returning to my earlier theme (heh) of games with fucking awesome soundtracks (this is a music forum after all), why not the only game score ever nominated for a Grammy?
Two games have been picked in this series, but not the right one yet. This game changed everything. It became a template for all third person shooters, sandbox/open world games, and story driven epics. You could steal cars, kill anyone, drive by, drug deal and explore an open world which had never been experienced before. This didn't become a gold standard for just a generation of games, but for the future.

And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

Super jealous of that Max Payne pick,Okay here's my two.
Best one in the series IMO. Played this game for countless hours, my defacto fighting game.
This is simply the most complete racing game I have ever had the pleasure of playing. It has everything I want in a racer, extreme speed, spectacular crashes, tight controls, and various game modes. More than half of the fun of this game was playing crash mode where it's basically a puzzle to figure out how you can crash into traffic to cause the most amount of monetary damage on a given level. Not to mention the actual racing where you are specifically looking to bash into other opponents to gain positioning and boost all the while dodging random traffic in the road.
