I know right? I actually had to triple check the draft board because I thought he for sure would've been picked, and was very surprised (and excited) when I found out that he wasn't.
And I agree with you about his later stuff, he was/is always great. One of the best flows of all time and a great lyricist as well. I don't know, when I listen to his early stuff and then listen to Nas, Biggie, and Jay-Z, it all kinda makes sense. You could tell he had a big influence on those guys.

I actually really like Jay Electronica and this is a good pick, but does anyone remember his set at Bonnaroo in 2010, 2011-ish. It is still the single worst show I've ever seen on the farm. Dude was just to drunk or high or both to be anywhere remotely good that day, and he kept stoping the beat every time it would start sounding good and go a cappella for no reason and jumping down to smoke blunts with the first row. It was just a mess.

He'd start rapping, then mad lib would stop the track, Gibbs says, "Fuck Police" crowd responds, Gibbs says how hes going to fuck all our bitches, goes back to rapping for like maybe 45 seconds, mad lib switches the track, stops it again, Gibbs says, "Fuck Police" asks for weed, crowd so excited because he marijuanas, Gibbs says "Fuck Police" after injecting more marijuana, plays Deeper, does first verse, says "Fuck Police", has his thirsty ass stare into crowd looking for bitches to fuck, I fall asleep for like an hour or so in some alcohol induced coma, wake up to people dancing around me at Caribou.
