Did I miss something? I haven't been to the farm in a few years, but I always look over the lineup. Anyway, I looked over the lineup this year and it looks like a lot of pop/rap/dancy music. I don't remember a lot of that in previous years. Was there some kind of announcement that they would be turning to more top 40 music?

Thanks! That's all the information I needed. I guess that kind of seals the deal for Bonnaroo for me. I can't say I would have gone anyway as I'm getting older with kids. If it's simply turning into the exact shit I hear on the radio, there is no reason to even stop by the webpage. Years ago I would discover artists at Bonnaroo that I'd never hear on the radio. I'd buy their music and catch their concerts when they were near Cincy. I guess all good things eventually come to an end.
I've gone to Dark Star Jubilee a few times. It's fun, cheap and you can bring your beer to the stage. Maybe I'll see some of you fine folks there.

That's still a thing, I don't think any of the artists I want to see (minus Pearl Jam) are played on the radio. At least my radio stations (my radio doesn't play Tame Impala, Chvrches, or M83 last I checked but I know other states do).

really? tame impala and chvrches are on "alt" station all the damn time here.

They played Elephant for a couple months and that was it. But of course, I never listen to the radio anymore so I guess I wouldn't know. Whenever I do go to the "alt" station it usually ends with me screaming "ew wtf is this shit turn it off!"
edit: one time I did that when somebody in the car tried to play David Guetta and everyone in the car turned on me and made me feel like an asshole

You should really look at the lineup a little closer, because there are tons of hidden jewels in there. I, for one, think it is a very diverse lineup with something for everybody.
There's something for everyone but not a lot for anyone.
There are over 30 acts that I want to see ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
There are a lot of "yeah I'd see those" acts to me but not a lot of "I need to go to bonnaroo because this band is the shit" acts. LCD Soundsystem is really the only one for me.

This the same for me. I have to see Pearl Jam and LCD, and Dead & Co is the cherry on top, but almost everything below that ranks between "God awful bad" and "yeah, they're pretty good. I guess I'll see them." There are about thirty acts that I want to see, but there are only a handful that I would pay to see outside of Bonnaroo. Where as in previous years, I would go see acts outside of Roo just to help with conflicts at Roo.

It's mostly because the only people on the lineup that I've already seen are DCFC, Father John Misty, & Vince Staples. There's so much on the lineup that I would go see independently of Bonnaroo though (Borns, Marian Hill, The Floozies, Goldlink, Twin Peaks, Papadosio, Hermitude, Waxahatchee, LANY, Tame Impala, M83, Chvrches, Purity Ring, Griz, Blood Orange, St. Lucia, Daughter, Kamasi, Shamir, Andra Day, Miguel, Big Grams, Claypool-Lennon, TDCC, RL Grime, Oh Wonder, Beach Fossils, Lord Huron, & Lettuce... but then again I will pretty much go to any concert if I kind of like the artist and they are near me).. plus the 3 acts I've already seen. The only headliner I would see outside of Bonnaroo is LCD Soundsystem, but seeing Pearl Jam + Dead & Co. will be cherries on top for me.. plus there's a handful of other acts that I kinda like and will probably pop by barring conflicts as well. I'm finding myself looking for shows outside of Roo to alleviate conflicts for myself this year haha.

The one good thing is that a lot of the acts this year are better live than on CD. To me a lot of the pop acts kind run together (meaning sounding the same) but I still wanna see about 15-20 bands on my must see list.
