So I was in Las Vegas over the weekend for Umphrey's McGee and I broke my heel in-between nights of music. I'm still fully planning on going to Bonnaroo this year, but likely in a wheelchair as I figure that would be faster for getting around than crutching it. My question is, has anyone ever attended Roo in a wheelchair or with someone in a wheelchair? How easy is it to get around, and how easy is it to get approved for accessibility privileges? I'm going with my dad, brother, cousin, and cousin's girlfriend. Would I be able to get both our cars in accessibility camping? If not I'd rather just make the long trek. I'm reading over the accessibility portion on their webpage, but if anyone has any personal insight that would be helpful, thanks.

Read this. Ask your doctor for a temporary handicap hang tag. I've been with friends in wheelchairs & power wheelchairs and they did just fine. In the ADA section of camping, you can have your vehicle plus one companion car. So as long as y'all are in two vehicles, you are good.

I've witnessed many people in wheelchairs at roo! Last year someone had taken what looked like cardboard but was probably something thicker and made the wheels of the chair so that it was more octagon shaped instead of a perfect circle to help them get through grass and random terrain. Of course there were people with this chick who would help her through the tougher spots. I watched a roo recap video the other day where a grown man with crutches was being wheeled around in a red wagon.
Never done accessibility but I'm under the impression you do get a car pass for one additional car besides the one you're in. I might be wrong though.
Good luck!! You can do this!
p.s. if your family gets tired, make a big sign that says "i'm umphursmcgur on inforoo, please give me a little push to my next destination" and if I see you, I'll be more than happy to do what I can!
That might work better actually, what are those called? I gotta use whatever I go with for Summer Camp too.
They are called knee/hands-free crutches. You can also get a knee scooter/walker, which is pretty cool. I found a bunch of the crutches and walkers on Amazon.
I broke my foot a week before Roo 2011. I sent an email asking for access camping, they put my name on a list (or so they told me) and I got a temp. handicap pass from the state. If they can clearly see that you have a broken foot, you shouldn't have an issue, but I would send an email just in case.
