Hey guys, new to the board. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about buying wristbands from a local resident? Someone told me that there are names attached to the wristband and that they id you on the way in. Is this true and if so, how strict are they on this policy? I would hate to spend money and wait to get in to find out that I'll be turned away. Thanks for any information!

I personally have never bought from someone other than Bonnaroo before, but I have bought and sold other festival wristbands which are all very similar to the bonnaroo process. They have to be registered to enter the festival, so as long as the wristband that you buy isn't registered to someone you should be fine.
When I sold my ACL wristband, I had the person register it while I was there, after I received my cash, to prove that the wristband was valid. You could request that if you makes you rest easier.

I've always bought from the festival in the past as well, but due to the discounted price, I didn't want to pass it up. From what I've been told, the residents pick up their wristbands a day or 2 before the festival, and there is no way for it to be registered to me since I'm not a resident. I guess what I'm asking is how strict are they when scanning your wristband upon entering the festival? Do they id you when you enter to make sure it matches? I was told by the seller that they haven't had issues in the past, but a friend of mine told me they knew someone last year that bought from a resident and they did have problems.

I have never been ID'ed when entering the festival.

Have purchased local wristbands for the last 6 years and have never had an issue. They get them at noon Wednesday, and then you are able to get them. I have never had to register it on the website or have been id'd at the gate. Now it is always fun going in the first time and a little nerve inducing. Me personally, I have walked in the East tollbooth for the last few years and park my car at a home right down Shedd Rd (usually 5 bucks a day and I pick up some local honey). With that said, I have no idea how it will work with camping passes or group camping by any means. You may have to purchase it separately at the will call station, but possibly at the gate (not sure). I do not live far from here and like to come and go as I please, since I park off site.
"That's the big thing about education. People can be book smart, but not really intelligent about anything else. A lot of times they just taking in all this information and regurgitate it. It's much more important to process it and personalize it. To apply it to your world, to your life. You have to walk the walk, or you can't really report about it honestly."
