Travelling from Ontario, Canada, and will be spending Wed. night in La Grange to break up the drive. If anyone is familiar with the town, a heads up on some good bars, music and food would be greatly appreciated.
I live about 7 miles from La Grange, in Crestwood. There's not a lot going on in Oldham county, unfortunately.
There is no regular live music, one good bar (Irish Rover Too), and about the same for food (Irish Rover Too, and a couple I'll add later). We only recently became a "moist" county - beer/liquor in restaurants only. No bar-only establishments.
You'd be better off going into Louisville for your entertainment options.
I'll post some good links when I get home from work tonight.
It's a great place to raise a family, but it's a "bedroom community" for Louisville - that's where all the action happens.

Hiya Pigs:
Thanx for the info...much appreciated! I agree with you on La Grange being a bedroom community. We have stayed there for the past 2 bonnaroo trips on the Wed. night. I guess it's the quietness and the town seems really clean and super nice polite people. Being from Canada, we're kinda nervous about renting a room and partying in the bigger cities like Louisville, without knowing the good and bad areas. If the bigger cities are anything like Toronto up here, you can walk from a "good" area to a "bad" area in a blink of any eye.
But cheers, and a karma for the links, will check them out when I get home tonight!

Yeah, Louisville's got a couple of rough areas, but they're mostly west of downtown and the south end of the county. Nothing like the bad areas I've seen of Chicago, Indy, or Boston though.
IMO, there are 2 or 3 good restaurants in the downtown La Grange area - Irish Rover Too on Main www.theirishroverky.com/ (my favorite - it's a classic Irish pub), The Red Pepper on Main, and Norma Jean's Trackside on Main. Just take 55 north from I71 and it will take you straight downtown. Main street is at the 4-way stop with the train tracks running down the middle of it.
There's a cool used bookstore with a full service coffee bar a couple of doors down from the Rover.
Backwoods Barbecue is good too, a little outside of downtown - 4205 W Highway 146.
Of course, there's chain restaurants - Beef O'Bradys and Applebys, but I think the first three I mentioned would give a better "local flavor" experience. Have a great night in LaGrange and a safe drive to Bonnaroo!
Drive on down To Louisville, KY lots of good bars lots of places to stay, if you come here go to the BBC home brew Dark Star or Longshots all about a mile away from each other lots of good vibes and it's only abot 3 1/2 hours away from Bonnaroo.
