I just want to give a shout out to everyone who hunkered down at This Tent before Sam Hunt and refused to leave Centeroo during the 'severe' storm warning! The epic game of valley ball that ensued was one of those moments that make 'roo the magical place that it is!
I joke with my friends about making 'I Survived Tornado-Roo 2016' shirts but if enough of you all want, I'll try and come up with some to give out to us few that said fuck the weather, fuck security kicking us out and had a great fucking time while we waited for the show to go on!
If you went to Sam Hunt you deserve to be swooped up by that tornado.
Dude, I saw your schedule...
Lol. Being dragged to Third Eye Blind was one of the worst shows of my life. I could not get over how fucking corny that lead singer is. And what the fuck was he wearing, an apron?

I tried to warn you
I knew going in that I would hate it. Just took one for the team and said fuck it.
If you wanna get technical, the (small) tornado was Friday and ruined a lot of people's shit.
The thing you "survived" at Sam Hunt (aside from Sam Hunt) was a moderately severe isolated thunderstorm that featured lightning within 5 miles of the farm.

Yeah there was a little tornado that went through the LeBon tents and right through camp only Friday afternoon. I was hanging out at the Canadian Embassy in tent only and the tornado started in the big open area around the LeBon tents. I must say it was pretty cool other than the fact that some small girl was in her tent right beside us when it went through and it did lift the tent up with her in it about a foot off the ground. During the Saturday "evacuation", I was the one yelling for people to get drunk, drink whiskey, and basically giving crap to people because that evacuation was a load of crap, especially if you were around for the 2010 Thursday wall cloud that came through while everyone was still trying to get in the gates. Now that was a storm that f'd up some sh*t. Had to lower all the easy up's and hold on even though they were staked in the ground. Good times though
"That's the big thing about education. People can be book smart, but not really intelligent about anything else. A lot of times they just taking in all this information and regurgitate it. It's much more important to process it and personalize it. To apply it to your world, to your life. You have to walk the walk, or you can't really report about it honestly."

This little tornado was super cool. I'm glad I got to see it and a little disappointed, in myself, that I thought people were flying paper plates and chair bags as kites, for a moment.

Don't think I was going to Sam Hunt for a minute. I was at Ellie Goulding when the announcement came to evacuate centeroo. Then a girl beside me who was volunteering said they were told bonnaroo was cancelled for the night. I saw a crowed of people at This Tent and ran to the masses. They were going to have to drag me out of Centeroo haha
I didn't realize people actually had their stuff damaged the night before due to weather...

Anyone else share this moment with me?
I wonder how many staff members and volunteers weren't able to seek shelter because of you clowns.
And Sam hunt was not the worst thing I saw all weekend, that clearly goes to ring of fire
That's what was funny... They tried to evacuate Centeroo for a 'tornado' when there was hardly bad weather experienced at all!
Cancelling an event or switching to a rain plan is the hardest thing in the entire world. I couldn't imagine being the person to make the decision for the event as big as Bonnaroo.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

I would guess that they have policies in place that if lightning strikes within x miles of festival ground they take action.
As a staff member i had heard if lightning strikes within 20 miles then they'd take action. It was within like 7 miles from Roo. They were playing it safe just in case something worse could've happened. Times have changed from that epic mudbath of 2004.

so, the biggest thing i see in them evacuating was at least the what state are with the tall speaker towers that could serve as lightning rods and the metal barricades around the pit and sound booth. those areas are prone to a strike so get folks as far away from there as possible. Im ok with what they did for showing an effort to get folks away. we went behind what in a staff parking lot and had a small tailgate party. it was fun except those guys with the balloons on fishing reels kept flying them right next to us. that made me a wee bit nervous...
we had one of our friends that camped at this tent and played volleyball. she wasnt leaving unless they carried her out.
