He also said Blink was top 4, so he's gotta be wrong about something.
Oh yeah I forgot about that Blink still seems like a weird fit for Lolla in 2017
Their tour did pretty damn well last year AFAIK. I don't know if they warrant a top 8 slot but they did put on a great show so I wouldn't be opposed to them being there. The Weeknd being there on the other hand...
2017 Shows Sam Roberts Band, Wilco, Local Natives, Ryan Adams(!), Chance the Rapper, Future Islands, Frightened Rabbit, TOOL, Field Trip Music Festival, Gary Clark Jr., Arkells w/July Talk, Gorillaz, Tom Petty, Metallica, Muse, Incubus, Lollapalooza (!!!),Kings of Leon, Deep Purple & Alice Cooper, Father John Misty, War on Drugs

No no no. The Weeknd is no Kanye, but I'd much rather have him on the lineup than Blink in 2017.
That's essentially the same slot they played two years ago (they subbed on the North). Seems silly to me, but so does bringing back Alt-J for a third time in six years.
I wish. Bonnaroo is ruining my life. That's my luck though.
Bonnaroo has some dismal shit I couldn't get paid to see. That goes for every fest these days. At the same time, the hatred has been way overblown in my opinion. I realize that in the past Bonnaroo has been more about the quality than the sales, but that's where they are now. So having the following on that lineup make it at least somewhat worthwhile.
U2, Red Hots, Chance, Travis Scott, Cage, Big G, Umphrey's, Portugal, Flatbush Zombies, Pres Hall, Turkuaz, badbadnotgood and Stick Figure should all be good to great. A couple of decent EDM sets from Snails, G Jones, Herobust and Ganja White Night is almost enough to offset Borgore, Major Lazer, Marshmello (wtf is he doing at #11?!?!?!) and Louis the Child. I think you will have a good time with a lot of time for exploring.

I know. But to say those stages are equal is wrong. The artists that play the Samsung are usually of higher quality than those at the Bud Light

For the millionth time, it's not that the artists they booked are bad, per se, it's that the style and variety are totally different from past Bonnaroos.

That list isn't worth $380 for the ticket price.
I hear you and I'm not going this year, but he is also a fan of Future Islands and probably some other stuff I don't listen to. Where I guess I have a difference with a lot of people is U2 (bucket list act for me) Red Hot Chili Peppers (got an additional 15 minutes with them and The Meters at JF last year). And I like Chance (just got 225 for my 40 ticket in Oct, then saw him at Dave Chappelle's Juke Jive, so he's worth something). Also I liked Travis Scott this past Friday a lot, and it's the second time I've seen him in 3 months). Sure, auto tune sucks balls, but he was still hard into his show. Finally Umphreys is always worth 50.00 for me, and to be able to see badbadnotgood again would probably be also worth 40-50, so I could get my money's worth. But the hassle alone is enough to say nah without a wow factor.

But most of those bands are bad as well.
I think I mentioned that it's sales over quality - at least seems that way to me. I don't see a midnight Spectrum Road anywhere, and that was the kind of shit that made Bonnaroo great in the past. Even catching the MM&W set at 15 was a treat for me.
Bonnaroo's undercard is not very good at all but they hit on some bands I'm a big fan of so I'll be just fine. Tool will tour again whenever this album comes out and I'm willing to hit up somewhere outside Illinois to see them anyway. I just cant believe the first time they come to Chicago in 8 years, it's of course that day. Just shitty luck.
You guys don't think Alabama Shakes will be an act that crosses over from Osheaga do you? I know The Weeknd is supposed to return and he played two years ago too, but he's risen in fame and had more output than the Shakes, who have seemingly done nothing besides Britney Howard's Thunderbitch side project. I'd be pretty disappointed if they took up a top spot.

Well they're bringing Alt-J back after they subbed in 2015, so I suppose it's possible.
In news most people probably won't care about, Nina Kraviz had to cancel her show here last weekend, and Smart Bar said they're going to have a make up show sometime this year. I feel like since she's already at Osheaga that weekend maybe she'd do her make up show as a Lolla after show? Probably just wishful thinking on my part though.
