if lineup is as good as last year then i will definitely be interested. just couldn't make it work money wise this year
anyone who went last year, was a fest in a hotel as awesome an experience as i'd imagine? being able to elevator down and you are at a fest sounds like the best thing

Here's what I wrote in another thread:
"It was really great!! They initially had some logistical issues regarding lines to get into the Joint (the main stage) and an overzealous security process, but the kinks were quickly ironed out. With the combination of staying at the hotel where the performances were held and the hotel bars staying open 24 hours... I will admit that this turned much more into a party than a music festival for me. I saw a lot of great shows, but most of my time was spent socially at the bars, in friends rooms, etc. Sound was great, never too packed at any show I saw (in fact, I was a little concerned about the success of the event, but given the rebooking it must have been fine), good sight lines, etc. I'd say that this is one of my two favorite music festivals right now (Big Ears being the other). Highly recommended"

Can I start geeking now?!? I've been lazily pricing hotels and casinos. Still unsure of what we're doing. I'm doing the festival, Mrs GL is playing slots. Trying to figure out if it were to be easier to stay at the Hard Rock and let her go crazy in the city or to just cab/uber it in from elsewhere.
E: just noticed they switched dates, too. It's now the 17th - 21st.

Bah. Reserved at the Golden Gate. I like the feel of Downtown Vegas vs The Strip. Plus everything smells like death. Seems like the perfect place to be.

Being able to retreat in a hotel room on-site and make last minute decisions on shows was really great. I suggest giving the Hard Rock some more thought... though try to stay away from the pool area. It's LOUD.

I'm a bit of an anti-social, especially when it comes to being around a shit ton of people or hanging out with my wife. If we ended up staying at the Hard Rock, I could see me skipping shows in favor of free drinks and dice.
Agreed though on staying at the venue (for everyone else).
I'm off and family-less for the weekend. $10 says I listen to Leonard Cohen and make wishlists for the next three days.

Another change (?) - they're now listing Aug 18, 2017 at 11 AM to Aug 20, 2017 at 4 AM PDT on the FB invite and Fri, Aug 18, 2017, 11:00 AM – Sun, Aug 20, 2017, 11:00 PM PDT on the ticket selling site.
E: Makes me a little less sour about Roadburn now, actually. I'm 100% in. I'm also solo now as my wifes conference is the week originally posted. I'll apologize in advance to all of Vegas.

They sold out faster than 3 minutes. I was right on the site at 4:20 PDT and had even picked 2 tickets... but they sold out before I could hit the submit button.

Yeah, I'm shocked... 2nd tier doesn't appear to include the Psycho Pool Pre-Party on Thursday either. I wonder what they're going to do for the "high roller" tickets. Last year they got an entire balcony floor at the Joint. With only 80 VIP tickets being sold for 2017, I wonder if they're going to open up some of that space...

I love all of those bands... I always make a festival spreadsheet with the following columns: "Must See," "Like To See," "I Guess If You're Going," "Not For All The Tea In China" So far all but one of the bands announced is in my "Must See" column. BTW - Tier 2 now has access to the Thursday Pool Party. Sounds like capacity for that is 2,500, so once that sells out (presumably the total amount of tickets for the presale, Tier 1, Tier 2), Tier 3 will kick in without the Thursday access. Still surprised how fast Tier 1 sold out!

I checked out Merlin... really liked what I heard!
So with the rest of the line-up being announced in January, here's who I am hoping to see included:
Conan YOB - even though they played last year, a lot of people missed some or all of their set due to some kinks in the security process (which were later resolved). Plus, VHÖL is playing, so Mike will already be there! Ufomammut Butthole Surfers - They seem to be active at the moment and would fit in great. Sunn O))) Earth Godspeed You! Black Emperor and/or Thee Silver Mt. Zion Mount Orchestra Hawkwind Amon Düül II Pallbearer Ghost Opeth Panopticon
