I'd take Arcade Fire - Lady Gaga - Muse - Tame Impala
Just when I give the Hangout thread credit for keeping our expectations in check Krisp drops a top 4 like that. C'mon man. That's a Coachella top 4. Plus too much rawk musik for Hangout unfortunately.
ARCADE FIRE / KOL / TEDESCHI TRUCKS BAND / ALESSO Justin Townes Earle / Modest Mouse / The Strokes / Gary Clark Jr Sturgill Simpson / Schoolboy Q / Porter Robinson / The Offspring Royal Blood / Gary Clark Jr / Judah and the Lion / Galantis
Honestly don't think TTB would be a headliner honestly and if The Strokes were on there they would be possibly ever Sturgill as a 4th headliner. But I like your ideas Bob!
I can see Of Monsters and Men in next year's lineup. They are working on a new album and it should be out by then. Would really like to see them on the beach.

Pearl Jam/ Kendrick Lamar/ Ed Sheeran/ Deadmau5 Sturgill Simpson/ Incubus/ Future/ Alt-J/ Flume Of Monsters and Men/ Nathaniel Rateliff and the Nightsweats/ Asap Rocky/ HAIM/ Borgore/ Danny Brown/ Future Islands
Yep, since I am seeing Doobies in a VIP setting at the end of June, I've seen Jason Isbell 5 times in three years, and given the demographics, Arcade Fire / Lady Gaga / Muse / and Tame Impala would be sweet. I will give you Kendrick Lamar is you will give me TTB...even if they are on the second line.
"Let's take a look at this year's Coachella lineup. AC/DC, Jack White, and Drake are probably earning a few hundred thousand dollars for their performance. The next tier below - anywhere from $75K - 125K. It's been a long time since I've researched price estimates for bands so I might actually be off a bit. I can tell you, however, that music festivals are one of the top ways that bands and artists make revenue during the year. It's pretty easy cash for them and because a music festivals put them together with so many different artists and bands, gives them access to a wide varying of audiences, and provides them with a name brand festival, there isn't always a ton of negotiation that happens back and forth." www.quora.com/How-much-do-artists-generally-get-paid-for-music-festivals
In 2013, Calvin Harris and Arcade Fire where making $150K a show. Justin Timberlake is making $1M and I doubt Pilgramage is paying that. Lady Gaga would run us > $750K. Muse probably about $400K. KOL probably about $400K. I would bet Mumford cost $350K as did Twenty One Pilots. I wonder if you pay more for a short notice sub like Phoenix. I have no clue about Tame Impala. Deadmau5 is probably waaaay up there now. I'm thinking TTB for $250K and that would be a great show for the money. Especially if they could get Warren Haynes and Trombone Shorty to join them and play other stages as well.

Bob, I hate to tell ya, but those numbers are wildly off. The person who wrote that story knows nothing of how this works. Also, Timberlake is a part owner of Pilgrimage. They'd never be able to afford him otherwise. I'm glad to see you have Arcade Fire on your mock, though.
Regards repeating the time honored quessing game of who is going to play where and when...excellent way to waste time waiting for the dentist, car repair, or other need to fill idle time. Also, enjoy staying in touch with old and new friends.
Wow. A weekend in the calf-deep mud of SummerCamp makes me homesick for the beach. A Chicago based band called Lunar Ticks killed it on one of the tiny side stages, I hope to hear more from them. Warren Haynes' tribute to Gregg was magic. The Floozies and Pretty Lights Live on the beach would be fine by me.

Scored a ticket for Tool tomorrow night. Forgot when they went on sale and resale tickets have been over $100 for the cheap seats so I had written it off. Craigslist cheap seat ticket for $60. Now to find one for the GF so I can come home after the show.

Lunar Ticks sound pretty fun...quirky goodness...remind me a lot of The Rheostatics

Hangout definitely on the radar for next year - it's on my wife's festie bucket list. Will probably be determined on whether or not there's a One Big Holiday this year.
Line up should be out in a day or two /s. If you are interested, I think prime condo booking time ends in December? The fest is 10x better when you can walk to it and back in 5 minutes rather than use shuttle

Seems like we'll be running into each other a lot over the next year.
We are all repeating pages 1-150 from last year's thread.
As expected so I'll offer this. I hope you all have a great time. Any money spent on festivals for me next year will either be local that I'd go to anyway or ones that have and REQUIRE a substantially higher level of performers and musicianship. Hangout 2018 is barely a blip on the radar for me which sucks because it's so close to where I live. They'd have to return to at least the level of interest I had in 2015 for me to even consider. That's pretty unlikely. They decided they didn't want my business anymore, and I'm man enough to smile and walk away.
MMJ should have another album on the way in 2018 and it'll be 3 years since they played the fest but I just don't know where they fit with their recent booking styles. 2015 was pretty average but they hit on some of my favorite acts that year with MMJ, Umphreys, Foo Fighters, TV On The Radio, and Future Islands.
Yeah it's probably overkill. But XX, Glass, Royal Blood, and Milky have all played basically every fest ever and have managed to skip hangout so they'd make sense.
