I may have to drop Hangout for this next year. Hot Lanta in the spring. Some of my favorite musicians. Like esteban said, I want to hear some music and not a frat party.
Some really good new music from Judah and the Lion, Moon Taxi, and Jack Johnson. I'd be down for a Hangout Alumni weekend. Also would like to see some new blood and classics as headliners. Robert Plant and Ryan Adams would rock the beach for sure. So we think the initial lineup will drop end of November? I'll freak if Sturgill or TTB makes the lineup.
Krisp, saw Cherub at a little 1 day fest called Moontower, in Lexington, KY. Was right up front, as the crowd was small. Just a awesome show. Energy out the wazoo from these cats! They would be great for HOF.
Hope everyone is doing well! Back off the tour. Just had to comment on this one: The Offspring at 10?!?!? They were 4 or 5 at Rock on the Range. On this mock they are 4. Think of the demographics. Would the younguns rather rock to 25 hits of The Offspring or Sturgill Simpson?
Sorry, but I'm a fan of them...
No way would Offspring be 4. Rock on the Range is genre specific. They'd be verty much lower at a large multi genre fest than at that. Plus, a 25 year old probably doesn't even know who The Offsping are. They were one year old when Smash came out and ten when the greatest hits album come out. and that is "old" for this demographic.
Gotta disagree, Moten, with the youth not knowing any of their songs. They've heard a bunch on the radio. Maybe not 4 at a multi-genre fest, but 2nd line for sure. They are one of the greatest pop-punk bands of all time. As big a draw as Blink-182, IMO. More hits, also.

They played the pre party this year right before Migos brother.

I'm going to push them further to somewhere in the middle with somewhere in the middle money, so Offspring says "Fuck off" and we never see Offspring on the line-up. The 90s were a long time ago.

Haha. Maybe so. I just watched them play a festival about a month ago, and it actually didn’t suck for what it was. I never paid attention to that wave of punk - say them and Green Day’s era - so 3rd or 4th wave I guess. To the point on the 90s though and stuff that got popular then maybe that originated more mid to late 80s I guess, you still have some of the best concerts coming out of those years. Obviously we aren’t getting Alice In Chains, Nirvana or Soundgarden anymore. But Primus still rules and should play Hangout as a side or tent act. Metallica as well. That was kind of the last great hard rock era I suppose. In fact if Metallica headlines or is 2nd, I’ll fn go back.

Killer! Know they gave y'all a good show. I'll use this to list bands I saw for 1st time that I'd never really heard of & turned out to be great:
Royal Republic, Thrice, Radkey, WELLES, Turkauz, WILDERADO, Tank & the Bangas, The Wrecks, The Dexateens, Joesph, COIN, Vita and the Woolf, Blackfoot Gypsies, Middle Kids, Starwolf, Future Thieves, Robert Randolph & the Family Band, Larkin Poe, New Years Day, Joyous Wolf
Saw a bunch I had heard of. Too many to list here. All above bands are great, IMO.

Weezer is from that era. Heard they were enjoyed :-) You put The Offspring on that beach & you'll have a huge crowd.
I'd enjoy some Offspring. I just don't know if the Hangout demographic is aware of them anymore. But yeah I was also surprised at the surge Weezer has had topo.
Foo Fighters cancelling shows for a family emergency. Makeup dates are in esrly May which means they will be in the States and playing shows before Hangout.

but weezer continues to put new music out. Offspring would be a fun mid-level act, but I wouldn't compare them to weezer. (Says the lifelong weezer fan)
Speaking of Primus, how about some Claypool Lennon Delirium in the tent. That would keep things interesting.

id never complain about getting Foos but cant see them playing for a third time already.

I agree. Routing/timing just seems right. I'd like to see some new blood but Foos would be better than most of what Hangout would give.
I love that place. Missed Judah and the Lion there last week.
One of the best places to see a show in WNY. I am kind of surprised if The National is really playing there. It is relatively small for a band that size unless it is a "Town Ballroom Presents" show at another venue.
I like Foo- But I feel like they have done/will do so many festivals that I wouldnt want to see them at Hangout again. Seeing Foo isn't something special, but with that said there is a lot worse HOMF could do.

They have not been as prolific as Weezer, and they are not as big a draw as Weezer. They did release fine albums in 2008 & 2013 & have one coming out in 2018. If they closed the Surf Stage (or Parking Lot one, but that would cause a huge jam of people), they could do this 15 song set (any order, but here's mine) & you would have delirious pandemonium at end: 1) Huck It 2) Me & My Old Lady 3) 'Slim Pickens' 4) Dirty Magic 5) Cruising California 6) Spare Me the Details 7) OC Guns 9) Want You Bad 10) The Kids Aren't Alright 9) Original Prankster 10) Pretty Fly for a White Guy 11) Can't Repeat 12) Hit That 13) Come Out & Play 14) Self Esteem 15) Gotta Get Away
If Offspring is one the line up there better be Crazy Taxi in the arcade.
And throw Reel Big Fish on the line up.
Id go just for Reel Big Fish. Big ska/punk kid in my high school days. Ive seen them so many times when they were way too drunk to even know their own lyrics. "Beer" on the beach would be a riot.
