I went about 5 years ago to see A Perfect Circle. Well run event.
We unknowingly bought the stadium GA seating rather than the floor GA seating which is not nearly as good. However, with a constant flow of traffic in and out of floor seating and easily distracted security guards my group of four managed to individually sneak past security and spend the second half of the day on the floor.
Not saying it can still be done. But its been done. If they still sold individual day tickets and there was some combo of Metallica/Offspring/Primus/Coheed, I would consider this year. But a three day weekend isn't in the cards

If I didn't have a wedding that weekend I would totally consider this. $100 3 day pass to see Metallica, Soundgarden, The Offspring, Primus, Bush, Thrice, Coheed, and Biffy sounds like a pretty good deal to me.
Yeah I like this lineup significantly more than past years but with the new Open Air fest in Chicago that started last year I feel like there will be a good amount of crossover so I'm going to wait. I also have to assume Metallica is going to do a normal tour of their own with the new album out now so they're not gonna be worth the trip alone.
This will be my 4th. Its a well run festival. Easy from a logistics standpoint and I can always find $100 worth of music over the weekend. Plus I get to hang out with wannaberoo'ing alllllll weekend
I might have to pull the trigger on this one. It's one of the first times I've liked the lineup and i live 10 minutes away. It would be a crime if I didn't go.

Does RotR normally sell day passes? Lineup doesn't suit my tastes completely, but I'll be in Columbus for a baseball tournament that weekend anyway. If Sum 41 gets a late afternoon/night set, I'd go for the day.

What is it about the lineup that's substantially different than 2014, 2015 and 2016 particularly with many returning acts? I love Metallica and Soundgarden who is one of my favorite bands to see live, but there isn't a substantial difference on the majority of the card as any of those other years. All of them are full of great rock and metal and complete bullshit. So I have to ask

Pretty much just for Metallica and soundgarden. Yeah the feel is very similar but I just feel like this year is a must for me.
Completely agree esteban. Metallica and Soundgarden would be the best 2 headliners for my taste compared to other headliners they've had in the past though. Undercard is kinda of the same old. Everytime I Die and Biffy Clyro were nice to see on there though.

Makes sense. Haha. I was thrown off thinking it had to be the HL. Only stuff I've seen after the top several lines is White Chapel and Red Fang. I'd love to see Zakk Sabbath, and I always liked In Flames. Should be a blast.
It's still fire though. They are probably my favorite rock band. Working back was Austin in 2013, Cornell HO 12, Voodoo 11, UNO Arena 1994, Lolla 92 and Tipitina's 90. They were all fucking great and had memorable moments.
Tips was nuts. we were there to see Voivod with about 10-15 of our friends and didn't really know Soundgarden but blew up the show slamming and cartwheeling and shit. Cornell mentioned that Tips show at Voodoo 11 as being a defining moment for the band. They got stopped and seized in Calcasieu Parish because one of the sound guys had a little stash in a speaker. And the sheriffs took their money and shit. But they made it here and it was so raucous they knew shit was right. Haha. Glad to have a minor league part in the history of a band I love for something that mattered to them. Lolla I got tripped slamming and buried at the bottom of the pile for a long ass time, and people just kept diving on. I'm not really sure if it was 50 or 75 or whatever but that sucked. Haha. I knew I was fucked but panicking would have been worse. It was like 99 outside and they said about 120 in front of the stage. Got up and immediately got tripped again but that time only a few people fell on top of me. Haha. \m/. None of the other stories are as crazy but they will always be a Top 3 show for me in any year I see them. Soundgarden rules.

The weekend passes in the past were three individual tickets. So they didn't advertise single day passes, but it was never hard to get one. This year they are switching to wristbands for the weekend so I don't see any single days being available unless you find someone to do the wristband swap.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

Does anyone know if there will be a live video stream or television coverage of this like in years past? I think last year it was broadcast live on AXS, but didn't see a listing for this year's festival.
