Hate to say it but I'm prob gonna sit this one out. We'll see as we get closer. I would hate to sit at home that weekend but it's hard to justify the expense considering I've seen everyone on there I care about already. (Seen real Rage but not Prophets)
I'll prob just focus on other October concerts. My schedule for the month before Voodoo is gonna be fun.
09/28/17- King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard (One Eyed Jacks, NOLA) 10/12/17- KMFDM, ohGr, Lord of the Lost (HOB, NOLA) 10/15/17- Between the Buried & Me (Vinyl Music Hall, Pensacola, FL) 10/20/17- Gogol Bordello (Vinyl Music Hall, Pensacola, FL) **10/21/17- Bruno Mars (Smoothie King Center, NOLA) (If I can get in the door close to face w/ nosebleed)
Looking at it feels like half the lineup is EDM. That top four isn't bad but it certainly isn't anything that would make me travel to see it. Usually Voodoo has something somewhat rare. Really surprised NiN or QOTSA wasn't booked.
Rock friends liking it with Black Pistol Fire (one friend called it one of his favorite bands and a daytime show stealer), Black Angels, Charles Bradley (hopefully the cancer is in remission), Ron Gallo and Benjamin Booker. He always hates on Voodoo when Pearl Jam isnt playing.
Probably gonna sit this one out even tho I love the headliners. Pretty much everything good on that undercard I'm seeing this year at other fests prior. With how expensive these flights are looking not gonna really be worth it.
I like 'em for what they are. Flowers sounds great live. Its a pop rock sing along show. But I do feel like if uve seen em once, ur good to go. Idk if they're really up ur alley tbh esteban
I've honestly never listened to them even once besides part of a Live stream, so I'm pretty ignorant toward them. Worth seeing?
It's a good show but pretty pop laden. I read an article that Mr Bightsidr, 13 years later, still shows up on the UK's top radio charts or something like that.
I believe they have a new album in the works finally.
The Killers played Hangout the year Outkast played I wanna say. I watched/listened to them from my balcony behind the main stage. I was surprised by how much I didn't hate them.
They're just milquetoast, contrived and designed to be a big festival type band with the sing-alongs etc. Safe as milk.
I do feel slighted with the 6/6/6 announcement, hoping for Maiden and getting a limpdick band that shares a name with a classic Maiden album though.
LCD could easily suck at Voodoo by being setlist heavy on their upcoming ca$hgrab reunion album. Those songs might be awesome, I don't know. I saw LCD at Roo '10 and had a great time but I don't spend any time listening to them.
Basically the main thing I want to see is The Black Angels. Not going to a fest for that. Would be sweet if they played a late show at OEJ, which could easily happen.
Welp, I'm not as mad as I thought I'd be that work is cockblocking me out of this fest anymore.
Who needs a ticket? $140 shipped to your door 2 day priority USPS. Obviously I won't have them in hand until they mail them, but just wanted to put that out there before any of you buy any at the new price. Will save you $25.59 in tax and service fees. And single day passes will be $100 when they go on sale later.
Definitely bummed at the amount of EDM/shit I don't know that's probably EDM. And no NIN or QOTSA. But I'm still looking forward to going to NOLA for the first time, and there's plenty of good stuff assuming it's scheduled well. Never seen Foos or The Killers and I like both enough to have a good time at their sets. With tickets this cheap i'm much more willing to forgive.
@caddyshaq Kendrick's new show is leagues better than it was. Also pretty sure he's only doing Coachella this year, maybe one or two others, but he's doing an arena tour and yeah he's played a ton of fests in the past so I get your point.
Just fingers crossed for LCD and Kendrick not conflicting.
Here's my list, if anyone has any recommendations please send them my way.
Kendrick Foo Fighters The Killers LCD Soundsystem Brand New (cool) maybe The Head and the Heart Miguel Prophets of Rage maybe Cold War Kids Crystal Castles The Afghan Whigs (yay) K.Flay CHARLES BRADLEY Whitney The Black Angels The Record Company Benjamin Booker Chicano Batman Strand of Oaks Flow Tribe Mondo Cozmo Black Pistol Fire Ron Gallo Mannequin Pussy

possibly, I'll PM you if my group decides to go to this.

this is def worth my early bird ticket. hoping i have my wedding dates mixed up and i can attend. this top 4 is enough to make me happy. A lot of trash to get through and then some stuff i like toward the bottom. but for 130 or whatever i paid def worth it. Longshot i can go but gonna see whats up this week.

are you selling your pass good friend?
Possibly. I may have a buyer already but I'll keep u in mind Krisp.
I love the headliners but there is literally nothing in the under card that I give two shits about outside of Whitney and Prophets of Rage. Maybe Live would be a nice middle school throwback. Strange lineup, but the headliners alone are worth the money IMO.
My hope is that this has a solid Saturday (LCD would go a long way towards that) and I can get into NOLA Friday night, have a fun NOLA night, fest Saturday, brunch/lunch somewhere awesome Sunday and then head back
Kendrick Foo Fighters LCD Post Malone (I used to hate him but "Candy Paint" is my feel good track of Summer 2017) RL Grime Prophets of Rage Live Charles Bradley G-Jones The Record Company Benjamin Booker Chicano Batman Public Access T.V.
Without doing any research, there is plenty from top to bottom that makes the lineup worth it for me. Probably shouldn't have gotten my hopes up for NIN. The Killers devalue any lineup they are a part of but I'm sure I'll either see something else when they perform or leave early. Going to dig in and do some research today.
I totally understand people being disappointed with the lineup, but it works for me.
Mixed feelings. It's not really a good lineup, it's not really a bad lineup.
Foo is a big seller to me, I'd like a Friday or Saturday night show for them though. 14 they closed on Sunday. I normally like to cut out of Voodoo early for the drive.
I really like that first Kendrick album, everything since then has just been meh in my opinion. If he closed on a Sunday night (probably foos time slot) I would cut out early.
Saw The Killers at Hangout in 14, really enjoyed what I saw of the show. We cut out early for Pretty Lights though. They're another band that put out a first album I thoroughly enjoyed (Hot Fuss?) then subsequently shit the bed.
I hate seeing LCD on any lineup, I just don't get.
I hate that Voodoo booked DJ snake after him dropping out of Hangout and then posting his stupid snowflake tweet the other day. If people pay for you to play your stupid CDJ's for them, then do it. Plus, I thought Dillon Francis was a bigger (and better) name then him. I don't know why Snake has higher billing that DF.
Undercard- DF, Post Malone, The Head and the Heart, Brand New, Prophets of Rage, The Black Angels would all be good solid shows, and paired with a Foo headliner may get me to go if the schedule looks right.
