I wonder how many of these will be playing at the same time. I wonder if they'll fuck up LN this year too.

All you did was bitch about the Orwells last time they played. You also referred to them as "The Osmunds" IIRC.
Edit: Here's the post, you called them the Oswalds and made up a story about the lead singer encouraging the crowd to rush the barricade.
For those who weren't there, security cut power, none of what Pondo described happened.
There set would have been fine had they not asked the crowd to rush the stage. I still have pics from people hanging from the top of the tent. And it's exactly what happened. They sounded great but acted classless.
Go back and read what you wrote. They never asked the crowd to "rush the stage", and the power wasn't "knocked out", it was intentionally cut.

I preferred all three of last year's headliners over this year's, save for U2. But I voted for 2017 because there are more acts on the undercard I'm looking forward to seeing, about eight more. There were some times last year where I didn't go to any early afternoon shows.

To me, I like what I see in 2017. I didnt care or Tame Impala or LCD so they are meaningless to me. Personally Pearl Jam > U2 to me, but I have never seen U2. I remember them from when i was young so i look forward to saying that I got to see them in concert. I look forward to Umphrees Mcgee and some Hall and Oats, but kinda dissappointed in the country selection.
bottom line: I will make the most of it in 2017 and enjoy it just as I have the 5 other Bonnaroos I have been to.

So everyone has their different preferences of course, some people like more artists initially than last year and vice versa.
Personally, I understand the lineup and don't mind it because pretty much every act has some talent. I've found one of my new favorite band (Car Seat Headrest) and been enticed by some interesting electronic acts.
Also I hope everyone understands how legendary U2 is as a band and a festival get. U2 has the highest grossing concert tour EVER, they are huge everywhere! And they don't do festivals, historically I don't know how many fests they've attended but I doubt it's many if any. Also, they aren't just some rock band, many of their albums have had huge political meanings.
I keep finding people to enjoy on the lineup so I can't complain. It'll be an amazing weekend no matter what, just like last year. People hated on last year and missed out on one of the best show(s) (LCD -> Tame - I might be biased since I went from LCD pit to Tame pit.). I'll love Roo until the sentiment of the fest is gone and the artists are actually terrible.

There are more bands that I would be ok with seeing this year, but not a single band I'm super excited for. Friday night LCD -> Tame -> Lane 8 is better than any possible scenario that could happen this year.
The real comparison that should be made is between the complaints last year vs. this year, cause god knows, yall were moaning like a mare in heat last year!

I think last year was shock at how Bonnaroo could drop the ball so hard. This year we've just entered acceptance that this isn't the same festival anymore.
But I'm now realizing that for the years I've gone to Bonnaroo, my Star Wars comparison really works. 2013: A New Hope 2014: Empire Strikes Back (Yeezus strikes back) 2015: Return of the Jedi 2016: Phantom Menace 2017: Attack of the Clones

I think there are less complaints this year because last year was the first year the undercard really took a nose dive in terms of diversity and quality. It surprised a lot of people so a lot of people complained.
Leading up to the lineup drop this year, I think most people's expectations were in check. While there was some hopeful speculation that Bonnaroo would book a weird and wonderful undercard in response to last year's poor attendance, generally speaking I think we were prepared for the worst, which is what we got. Besides, we've basically been complaining about the potential for a shitty undercard for months.
As far as headliners go, we knew who they were over a month before the official announcement, so we had most of December to discuss them, but honestly there isn't much to discuss because it's a banal set of headliners.

Banal? U2 doesn't play festivals, I think they've done Glastonbury once? It's the rarest headliner that is still touring pretty much. Red Hot is "banal" and while The Weeknd and Chance may not be original they're are still great artists. I prefer these headliners to last year even though LCD was such an amazing show.

So then 2018 should be pretty solid. And 2019 may be great, depending on how you feel about episode 7

2018 will be less dog shit overall. Still not great, but less of the stuff we hated with a few bright spots here and there.

****LCD>second half of Purity Ring>Blood Orange>rest of Lane 8
(I know almost everyone else was at Tame, but PR>Blood was the perfect choice for me that night)
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

Ya, Purity Ring > Blood Orange was definitely the way to go. Tame was good, but seen them once seen them 10 times.
And I think you all only missed 20 or 30 minutes of Lane 8 too.
2016 wins over 2017. 2016 still had a few good things buried in the undercard.
