I'll be 32 at Bonnaroo 2018, so not young per-say, but I would love Fleetwood Mac. Maybe only Depeche Mode is a bigger want for me at this point, which I can't see happening, so I'll gladly buy my ticket aboard the Fleetwood hopefuls train.
I thought I read on pitchfork or some shiz a while back that Jack White was done doing festivals. And he had plans on only doing smaller venue stadium seating type shows on out. Maybe it was just that last tour though, or maybe I'm making it up.
No you're right, he said he was only doing acoustic shows at small venues in the future. He was probably just butt hurt though. Remember that whole thing where he left in the middle of a show because the crowd wasn't that energetic? It was around that time IIRC

Jack White is pretty cool but he needs to stop trying so hard to be Ryan Adams
lol what?
A. White Stripes pre-dates Heartbreaker B. It's laughable that Ryan Adams total discog is near the quality of Jacks C. Ryan Adams still dresses like he's the guy who graduated high school, but still comes back to hang with the lame kids so it makes him look cooler. D. I highly doubt Jack White is going to be covering any Taylor Swift albums

I'm not talking about either of their music. If you've ever been to a Ryan Adams show, he's pretty vocal and quirky.
... but if I'm being honest, 2017 was the best year we've had on the Farm since 2014. It certainly wasn't flawless... the undercard was certainly more generic/less established and if it wasn't for the last-minute cancellations we would've had few EDM alternatives at late night. But on the whole, I would much rather trust LN with Bonnaroo 2018 than whatever form of AC Entertainment gave us 2015/2016.
I think 2017 had a better sense of direction. Most of us here weren't happy with the lineup, but I think they ended up hitting their target demographic. Even if they still didn't sell as many tickets as 2015 and every year before...
But I would still take 2015 over this year. Sure the headliners were weak and the schedule was a mess. But I would rather see Flying Lotus, D'Angelo, Run the Jewels, STS9, or Earth Wind & Fire over anything we had late night this year. I'd also prefer an exciting Thursday night where I can see The Growlers, Courtney Barnett, and Mac Demarco all back to back on the same stage. 2015 also had some badass encores from Mac Demarco and Flying Lotus that wouldn't be allowed at Bonnaroo 2017. But most importantly, Bonnaroo 2015 had fucking Slayer.
I do agree they missed the boat on late night - there is WAY too much EDM at night.
IMO they need to make That Tent for hip hop, This Tent for Jam, Other for EDM, and Which Stage Rock for first act and EDM for second act. Rinse and repeat this every year and make it a tradition.

I didn't realize Adams had monopoly on being vocal and quirky.

Ryan Adams was once heckled by someone who wanted him to play Summer of 69 so Ryan threw $20 at him for a refund and told him to leave the concert. Jack White said he would refuse to play any concert in which there was a banana in the crowd. Seems like similar stage behavior to me, sorry I made a low effort shitpost comparing the two.
I couldn't tell you one Ryan Adams song. I've looked him up a handful of times and it never clicked with me
There's a trick you are probably missing - turn it down to 10% volume.
Then you go turn on Radiohead and turn it up to 100%.
Ryan Adams sounds really good when you remix this way. Alternatively, if this isn't clicking with you, turn down Ryan Adams to 0% and you have a bulletproof recipe for success!

This is a dumb comparison. Their personalities are completely different. Ryan is laid back and goofy during his banter. He jokes around and improvises songs. Jack is pretty consistently intense and goes for the 'preacher at a religious revival' vibe

You mean just for late night right? Because I pretty much agree. I thought Schoolboy Q, Kaytranada, Danny Brown, and The Avalanches would have made great late night options this year. Have a hip hop artist open the tent followed by a dance/electronic artist that could be an alternative to whatever cheese is at The Other Stage. Then have a jam band or the Superjam in another tent. It's a pretty simple formula actually.

I ended up discovering stuff on the 2017 lineup that I really liked, and I had a great time. But 2015 wins by TKO on electronic music, Slayer, and MMJ alone, and there was much more on top of that.
2017 had better headliners for me, mostly because I dislike Mumford (only headliner ive skipped in four years) and Billy Joel can't compete with U2, but I strongly disagree that Kendrick touring on TPAB and Deadmau5 was a weak combo. People were iffy on whether Kendrick was a headliner at the time of the lineup drop. Then came TPAB. Bonnaroo just had him in that spot before the other big boys. Deadmau5 is who he is. Big draw, not for everyone, kind of a troll. If anyone didn't like him, they had plenty of other stuff to do, like we've gone over.
And Bonnaroo would have to hate money to book Jay - Calvin - Frank - Gorillaz. Calvin at #2 is a death sentence.

phoenix was def. a upgrade.
His Panorama, FYF, and Wayhome shows were all pretty well received. Looked pretty great from what I saw too.
