My takeaway from this is that it's an add-on, not a late night takeaway. I think if they were going to downgrade late night substantially, it'd be more effective to make the announcement of the change all at once. Trying to sneak in a major downgrade a week before tickets go on sale is a great way to lose goodwill with just about everyone.
Honestly, they try to sneak at least one thing by without comment virtually every year.
One year it was banning Tent Only unless you walked to the festival or took the airport shuttle.
Another year it was banning factory sealed water bottles.
They combined the comedy and movie venues without comment last year, removing one whole source of shade and AC.
A few years ago they did away with the Sonic Stage experience.
They banned tapers in the last year or two.
And those are just example that come immediately to mind.
My point is, they make these changes and wait to see if anybody notices.
Sometimes they do and we raise enough of a fuss that they back off (Tent Only, bottled water), usually we just have to deal.
Don't overestimate how transparent they are as a festival.

Oh my god this is the thread that got into some really cringe worthy race discussions isn't it?
Was that the one about using the n-word when in the crowd at a hip hop show?
I remember that the girlfriend of one of the Unchaineds came by to try to convince us that the set was overflowing and then got into it with a bunch of posters.

Yes. I want to say that some have revisited this conversation since then as well.

hahaha first time reading through that thread, this one stood out to me as i've honestly done it myself.
"I think the best approach is to say 'ninja' instead. You get to continuing rapping, you don't offend anyone (except the ninjas of course) and its pretty hilarious saying it"
It all comes down to safety floks. no disrespect to unchained but, they can not command a crowd needed for late night.therefore the other acts are going to be insanely overcrowded
that petition is still up, we can still stop it from happening. we only need 24,681 more signatures. maybe they will replace with a band and get back to bonnarooos roots.
