It’s amazing to me people believe LN’s lip service about letting AC continue to book the lineup after they bought Bonnaroo. They owned the the name and were going to use it to promote their interests. And they clearly did exactly that. The 2016 lineup had AC headliners and a LiveNation undercard.
So according to Festive Owl, (because I had to look it up) Roo announces their line up around 9th of January..? I got word that AM will probably get announced for some festivals in Europe at 8th of January.. Idk if that means anything.. Could also mean that they have to wait for Coachella (they're rumoured for them aswell) and that they can start announcing them when Coachella dropped their line up.. (But as like Roo, idk exactly when the Coachella line up drops..)

I don't like how 2015 gets lumped in with 2016-17. The headliners weren't great, but there was a lot to be excited about in that undercard. I still consider 2015 part of "the good ol' days".

Fully agree. It's been beaten to death, but compare the electronic selections in 2015 to those in 2016. It's a dramatic shift.
Am I the only one that thought 2016 had a lineup that was mostly great, but 2017 was mostly garbage?
People like to shit on the 2017 lineup, but I enjoyed last year...
I know u dont go to Roo and like to make statements like this, but attracting all the EDM and its crowd to the other stage made the rest of Centeroo pretty awesome IMO.
You dont have to love every band on the lineup, you just have to fill a schedule and they did a really good job of that in 2017 for an older, rock-first guy like me.

You're basically saying you just accept that the lineup has a ton less quality names and depth to it because you could still fill a schedule. It's Bonnaroo, I expect much more than to just be able to fill a schedule. Compare the insane depth of the 2015 lineup to this year's. I think the main tell is how huge and sudden of a drop off the Thursday lineup was this year compared even to 2016.

2016 had some good headliners, and one I was extremely passionate about (LCD). 2017 had zero quality headliners. 2016 undercard was pretty great... Tame Impala, DCFC, M83, FJM, Ween, Band of Horses, Leon Bridges, Kurt Vile, Vulfpeck, and Papadosio are all pretty good. There wasn't nearly that much in 2017.

And even that is selling it short. Vince Staples, Purity Ring, Tyler the Creator, Griz, The Internet, Bully, Kamasi, Borns (if his sound was better), FKJ, Hundred Waters, Claypool Lennon Delirium, Dungen, etc. I hated on the 2016 undercard when it came out, but compared 2017 it's miles better.

Agreed. It's disappointing compared to 2014 and before but it was still miles ahead of 2017, and honestly still a pretty nice lineup. St. Lucia, FIDLAR, Lany, Clutch, Lettuce, and Bully too.
Oh, and being able to see the Chainsmokers and Most Palone be in a reasonable position on a festival lineup is nice too.

2016's Thursday was actually insanely good.
I suppose I'd like the top of the lineup to look sexyyyy, but aside from that, I only care what I am going to see at the fest.
I may just be lucky, but I've been able to fill my schedule up with acts I was excited for each year. Granted, I start at ~3pm most days, so they don't have to fill out the bottom of the lineup...
As for Thursdays - my favorite was actually last year (Hippo Campus, Lemon Twigs, Turkuaz, Twiddle).... I would actually say 2016 was my least favorite by a good margin.
If clues continue being every Tuesday and Thursday, and we get 10 clues again we will get the final clue January 11th. So we should guess we get the lineup either the 16th or 18th.

Inforoo took serious shits on each year's lineup for the last 5 years. Then as people get older they buildup how great a lineup was from a few years ago. Thursdays often feature what are supposed to be up and comers so of course Thursday's from 2013 look better than Thursday for 2017 in present day terms. But right on Steverino--last year's Thursday was a blast.
This isnt true. People here were in absolute awe of 2013 and 2014 as soon as they dropped. 2015 had poor initial reactions, but we came around a bit. It was clearly a dropoff though.
Having went to both I think 2017 was miles better than 2016. Anyone who thinks otherwise needs to look at 2016’s Saturday again - my god that was awful.

Saturday and most of Sunday (DCFC, Dead & Company, Father John Misty, and Ween being some exceptions) but man there was no diversity on that day. Thursday and Friday were pretty awesome.

In terms of just overall lineup I think 2016 is way better. But yeah the distribution was pretty terrible. Thursday and especially Friday were stacked. Saturday and Sunday were pretty barren. I think they tried to make each day have a certain vibe but that fails when most people are stuck there for all 4 days.

I had free tickets to 2017 and had to seriously consider whether I even wanted them. That lineup was absolute ass. I had maybe like 2-3 shows a day I cared for. Late night umphreys was real cool, minus the fact that they played their alotted slot and my acid was bunk.

As a 9 year vet, 2017 was by far the worst lineup I've ever seen on paper, so I didn't go (and chance's 2014 LN was probably a top 10 ever for me). 2016's undercard was kinda weak but it was the first time that I thoroughly enjoyed all 3 headliners. 2014 was the last legitimately incredible lineup. I'm hoping to make this year my 10th (and possibly last) trip, for my bachelor party. My only hope is for a lineup better than 2017. I'm not optimistic. At 31 years young/old, I'm afraid bonnaroo has passed me by.

Considering they scored U2's only US headlining festival, ever, this statement is laughably inaccurate. We are all entitled to comment on stylistic preferences (I personally don't care for U2 in general, but hearing Joshua Tree in its entirety was fantastic), but you really just can't claim that there weren't any quality headliners. You are objectively wrong.
Can’t you idiots get it through your minds that Bonnaroo ruined everything and you can’t have fun there anymore?! Fuck!
Can you idiots get it through your minds that “can you have fun at Bonnaroo” and “is Bonnaroo the same quality product it used to be” are two completely different standards?!
