XPN's Twitter lists Spoon as the top billed act for Sat. night, while their members e-mail lists Amos Lee as the top act. I assume they're co-headliners and will both be playing the same amount of time.
Spoon will most likely get me to purchase a ticket for the full festival, but I really wish they'd stop booking so many repeat acts. Out of the 8 acts announced so far, only 2 (Conor Oberst & Spoon) haven't played XPN Fest before. 3 repeats from last year seems a bit excessive. I'm very disappointed not to see any Panorama Fest acts on the lineup so far. I would've loved to see Future Islands and/or Angel Olsen on the Sat. night bill.
With only 2 nights at BB&T and with Spoon/Amos Lee being smaller than last year's Ryan Adams, Alabama Shakes, Brandi Carlile headlining group, I wonder if tickets will be a bit cheaper this year.
Any thoughts on the acts for Wiggins Park? Dr. Dog seems possible for the top-billed act there. I think Car Seat Headrest, The Head and the Heart, Future Islands, Angel Olsen, Mitski, Drive-By Truckers, Margo Price, Ex Hex, & Kevin Morby are all realistic possibilities. Acts that I would love that are a bit more far-fetched, but possible, are Laura Marling, Dirty Projectors, and Natalie Prass.
You would think. Just checked in on the pre-sale and pit tickets are NINETY DOLLARS for Spoon. No thanks- Ill take it in for free on the lawn.
Really, really hope Future Islands plays. Them alone would get me to Wiggins park.
Headlining the Fillmore May 29th.
I'm really hoping for Future Islands too, but it seems unlikely with the Fillmore show in May.
On Sunday 7/30 Belle & Sebastian, Spoon, Andrew Bird, & Ex Hex are all playing @ Merriweather Post Pavilion outside Baltimore. I've been on the fence about going to that and just the Friday night of XPN Fest. If XPN books Future Islands and a few other younger, quality acts @ Wiggins Park, that would sell me on getting a three day pass. More acts in the vein of Amos Lee & Chicano Batman would not.
I'm assuming the rest of the lineup will be out in the next week or two.
The price for 3 day passes this year has stayed the same for lawn access @ BB&T Pavilion, increased slightly for 200-level seats, and dropped quite a bit for 100-level seats.
As someone who usually gets the 200-level reserved seats it's disappointing to have a $15 price increase for one less show @ BB&T Pavilion this year.
Also, a few weeks ago (before the Amos Lee & Spoon show was announced) I contacted XPN to recommend Fleet Foxes for the Saturday night show and they replied: "Thank you for reaching out! We actually are not involved in the booking of the bands that play at the BB&T Pavilion during our festival. That is all planned by Live Nation and then they alert us of their booking decisions. Obviously, their choice does coincide with music XPN fans would be interested in, but we do not have any control of that decision." It seems crazy that XPN doesn't even have control over booking the largest acts for the festival.
The following acts have been added since the original line-up was released: Offa Rex (The Decemberists & Olivia Chaney) Foxygen Hurray for the Riff Raff Pinegrove The Dove & The Wolf No Good Sister Swift Technique Hurry Hardwork Movement
Pinegrove and Swift Technique are great. Doubt I go to any Wiggins days though unless one day really breaks out perfect for me. These 2 with Brownout, Strand Of Oaks, Charles Bradley would do the trick but doubt it happens.

Can no longer make it on Saturday, so I'm selling my two pit tickets (row 2) for Spoon, Amos Lee & Friends + Pres Hall, The Suffers, and Chicano Batman. Willing to sell for less than what I paid. Let me know if you're interested.
I also have 2 free lawn tickets to both the Friday Wilco/Conor Oberst/Hop Along and Saturday Amos Lee/Spoon/The Suffers/Chicano Batman concerts at BB&T Pavilion.
I read something about free lawn tickets last year. What's that all about?
The festival takes place at two locations, Wiggins Park and BB&T pavilion, ~5 minute walk apart. The Headliners play at BB&T, while undercard plays at Wiggins Park.
If you buy a regular 3-day festival pass you receive lawn admission for the shows at BB&T. This may be what you're thinking of as "free".
eh im not really into the War on Drugs or Strurgill enough. hope the other night is better for my tastes. still bummed i missed Spoon and Amos Lee last year
