So what say you, Rothric? If you make the trip, I'll do it.
Chances are slim I'll miss a Wolf Eyes show this close to home.
I love the lineup, and would normally be all over this. But they waited so long to release the lineup, I committed to the Oregon Eclipse/Global Eclipse Gathering already.
And unfortunately the flights out of Idaho/Utah to RDU are expensive right now. Don't think I can pull both fests off.
So I haven't completely given up hope, it just doesn't look that likely to me right now. But who knows, crazier things have happened.
We will eventually meet!
You know what you should think about? Day for Night 2017
The only people who this appeals to, are the ones who really get into the workshops and installations. As far as musical appeal, bleh.
Yes and no. If you've been attending previous Moog's in the past, then I see your point about the repeat acts. I think the musical lineup is good, but yes, not full of things I haven't seen before.
Their biggest fuck up, is waiting until 2 months prior to the fest to announce the lineup. I made plans already, assuming this was going to flop since they hadn't announced anything. I was one of the ones they could have gotten there, but most likely missed out on.

Their entire roll-out was nonsensical. You'd think a fest that had trouble recently selling tickets would be more inclined to deliver lineup info ASAP.

Yep, whomever their marketing/social media people are need to be fired.
It's a shame this event struggles, it really does have so much potential.
I know nothing about analog synths, but I'd honestly have a great time watching and learning from some of the masters in the workshops.

So who are some must see acts here?
So far my to see list is Michael Stipe (!!!), Flying Lotus, AnCo, Gotye, Derrick May, 808 State, Jessy Lanza, KING, MNDSGN, Simian Mobile Disco, Visible Cloaks, SURVIVE, Dave Harrington, London O'Connor, and RY X.
Really enjoyed Moogfest remotely so far. Simian Mobile Disco was my favorite of the night. Derrick May and Animal Collective were great too. And the Driftless Ambient Recordings is a fantastic way to end the night.
Hardly anyone is watching the streams though. Animal Collective at their peak had ~115 viewers. I was 1 of 11 people watching Derrick May for long portions of the show.
Nice to get that Gang Starr and Mobb Deep in. But fuck, watching Premier is like a fucking memorial service for everybody. Big L, MC Guru, Phife, Biggie, and on and on and on.
Edit to say this flylo set is getting pretty great.
