This is our first time attending the festival and I am trying to gain as much knowledge ahead of time as I can. When is the best time to arrive to get the best spots for car camping? I was thinking asap on Wednesday night but now my son is telling me we should wait until Thursday. Any help would be appreciated.

in 2015 and earlier, the first arrivals were placed into the area popularly known as BFE, which was far away from centeroo and generally not considered a desirable camping spot (though some weirdos love it). In 2016, with the low ticket sales, they closed this area off, or used it for volunteer camping or something, i don't know. it's possible ticket sales will be up this year and BFE will be back, in which case if you arrive first thing wednesday night thats probably where you'll be.
but beyond that, it's a total crap shoot where they put you, random every year.

It's a mix of luck and timing. I wouldn't get there super early. In the past, when I've got the best spots, it's been arriving morning-time on Thursday. When we've gotten there wednesday night, we've been way out in the ether of bonnaroo, almost a 30 minute walk from Centeroo.
Is it strange that I was most excited to know I'm not the only parent attending with their son?! We are driving into Nashville Wednesday and hoping to do a little sightseeing and will head to Roo Thursday morning. Fingers crossed we don't spend the day trying to get there!

The 007/BFE/POD 1 camps are just bein' used as either vendor or volunteer again accordin' to this year's map.

My son and I will be attending for the first time as well. Driving up from Sarasota and arriving Thursday. My other son (older that the other) will be experiencing his third. I always wanted to do a festival, finally found a reason to do so.
I did a google search and couldn't find a pic. This year's camping pass is circular with CC on it, right? A friend's girlfriend bought it and I want to make sure that she bought the right one!
