Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
This initial rumor really does remind me a lot of when rumors swirled about Bonnaroo having U2, RHCP, and Chance as the top 3. It just feels like one is missing. Whether that's Foo, Fleetwood, Roger Waters, Rolling Stones, who knows...
Maybe I'm showing Coachella too much love though?
I thought the Roo headliners were pretty much known from the initial leaks of U2 and RHCP?
I don't remember the specific order/time frame- but I remember /r/bonnaroo being in flames over Chance rumored at #3. It didn't last long, but it felt very reminiscent of Chainsmokers in this situation.
Eh.. just trolling the people who troll everything else on this board. I honestly do not care that much who they book. Short of a Pink Floyd or Talking Heads reunion (and only if I knew they weren't doing any other dates), nothing would get me to this fest.
Congrats launchy, this is a big day for you. Hard to see how Gov Ball can't top this next year and sounds like the Coachella backlash will be even bigger next year.

Copped advanced sale for W2 as I have the past couple years so I'm there regardless of those laughable potential non-Queen Bey headliners but lmfao I'm having a hell of a time reading these freakouts into denial into acceptance posts, as well as the spin of "if these are our headliners the undercard will be *stacked*"
I hope the next three and half months go by as slow as possible

The undercard is almost always stacked. No one here seems to have a problem with it even if they are booked.
If I don't like the lineup I'll go to a different festival. It's not like anyone here really cares, none of us are pretending to work for Coachella or anything.

Can't one of you with actual info just tell us the real headliners? Or at least confirm The Chainsmokers aren't headlining so we don't have to debate this for weeks.

i don't get it. if this somehow isn't clear, I want to know the lineup. If it's bad I won't go. These two posts don't contradict each other.
Hey some rando on reddit said they think LCD Soundsystem is headlining Coachella again in 2018. Let's spend 5-6 pages talking about how likely that is to happen too because it also came from a reliable source and is also very likely to happen.
Beyoncé is bigger than Radiohead by pretty much every measure. But yeah, assuming these headliners are incorrect or the Chainsmokers aren't actually headlining, they could definitely have another huge name. Foo Fighters for instance.

The person who leaked U2, RHCP, and Chance didn't say that was the top three. He just confirmed those artists were playing Bonnaroo. Everyone just assumed that was the top three.

Aside from blue and Phoenix (who shouldn't have been a headliner), the 2013 headliners were very meh. But the undercard was amazing. Coachella usually does well with its undercard, so unless the fest undergoes a serious devolution like Bonnaroo, I think everything will be fine.

I think the allure of discussing Chainsmokers as a headliner is that it feels like this inevitable jump that some major festival is going to make sooner than later: To grab some trendy pop act and throw them up at the top to snag tickets/headlines. It's like booking Marshmello to headline Bonnaroo 2019.
If Bonnaroo headlined the Chainsmokers, many would see it as a pretty big change for the festival itself ... almost like they were doubling-down on The Weeknd playing Sunday night in 2017.
It's particularly interesting to think about what it would mean for Coachella, the current king of non-glasto festivals, to make the jump. Because of Coachella's goodwill, it's almost like it's less of an indication of the festival itself and more of an indication of the future of festivals and music in general.
But the undercard was amazing. Coachella usually does well with its undercard.
Definitely this.
I know a lot of people go to festivals mainly for the headliners, but this shouldn't be a problem for Coachella. You can always find something amazing in another tent (sans Sahara). It'd be very disappointing to see The Chainsmokers as a headliner though, I mean, they're not even comparable to Calvin Harris.

I would argue they are exactly comparable to Calvin Harris. Both are radio friendly edm acts that crank out hit after hit that teenage girls eat up.
For whatever streams are worth; if you check out Spotify, Chainsmokers are about comparable with even a few bigger "hits" than Calvin Harris.
So heres the only logical way that booking The Chainsmokers makes any sense to me, which is that Goldenvoice is gonna book The Chainsmokers at their lower level fests like Hangout and Firefly and they want their Coachella headlining set to build hype for the other sets that are a couple months after Coachella. People in this thread are commenting on how The Chainsmokers move tickets as a justification for this specific booking, which still doesnt make sense because this Festival always sells out and doesnt need help to move tickets.

Oh, I wasn't clear. I wanted to mean Calvin Harris is around since around 2006 and The Chainsmokers is around since when, 2013? I don't think they deserve to be a headliner for any major US festival yet (I'm talking about a scenario where they really have to be picked as a HL). Other than that they're exactly comparable in terms of genre, appealing to teenagers etc, I agree.
