I'm curious as to why Bonnaroo is scheduled in June, when Tennessee weather gets hot and humid. I'm wondering if it would be better if it moved to May, where the weather could be more cooperative and there's less competition on the festival scene - domestic and abroad. Think more people would show up?
I personally would love it if bonnaroo switched to may. LD hit both the reasons I would want it to switch. Although if c3 is doing the booking going forward we'd probably just get a shitty lineup with less heat.
It would be marginally more enjoyable due to the weather difference.
However, it would be closer to Coachella, Gov Ball, Hangout, Boston Calling, etc, so it would probably adversely affect almost literally everything else.

Basically my thoughts. This is gonna technically be the 16th 'Roo, right? I think it's too late in the game to change the dates that much. They wanna grab that college demographic, even though their current and last lineup says "Hey, you dig the newest YouTube sensation?! Here's your summer vacay!" I really would love to be a (super loud mouthed) fly on the wall in their current bookin' process. "Did you see the attendance numbers from 2005-2014?! Did you look at the lineups?! Choke on somethin' you mouthbreathers!"
I think if they had started out in May it might have worked better but switching now wouldn't help. Like others have said too much competion with other early season fests and college finals.

Closer to NA festivals but not overlapping with any aside from maybe one doesn't seem like a bad thing to me, as opposed to being closer to European festivals that genuinely rule out acts for the most part. Even if it overlaps with a festival or two Roo probably would still have more booking power than any of them (aside from Coachella) and could share some artists with those. Festivals are more than one day. The major issue would be the lack of summer vacations.
Tennessee in may is rainy as all hell. There's only been one Bonnaroo where the rain was bad all weekend. In may that would be closer to the norm.
Eh, its certainly storm/tornado season, but its definitely not "rainy as all hell". The average rainfall is a little over an inch more in May than it is in June.

If moving it helps them book better lineups and draw better crowds, why not. Do people really associate a certain weekend with Roo? I would go in April or I'd go in September, all the same to me.
Assuming that puts it on the weekend before Gov Ball every year, then I agree.
It would screw over Sasquatch and compete with Boston Calling. But it feels like Sasquatch are hanging on by a thread anyway, and BC is a different company in a totally different region. Why not compete?

But you're forgetting the behemoth that is Summer Camp!

My heart breaks at the thought of never seeing Moe. on another Bonnaroo lineup.
