As much as I love Priest i dont think they'd be "big enough" to headline alongside the rest of these acts. AC/DC & Slipknot could definitely work though.
Not anymore. They would have been one of them in the 80’s-90’s when they were at their biggest. But Glenn Tipton retired from touring due to Parkinson’s. KK Downing isn’t with them anymore. It’s bassist Ian Hill and Rob Halford still holding shit down. They’re still good live, but it’s a shadow.
im just happy that they're still doin it and Glenn comes out for the occasional encore. and i fuck with Richie Faulkner heavy, he's great in that spot

For sure. I think back to the vidoes of the 1983 US Festival when they played that. Those still pop up from time to time in recommendations on YouTube. We caught Priest on tour with Deep Purple in Mississippi I think in 2019. Like I said, they were still good and jammed hard, but they belonged as opener for that show.
Just for fun, US Festival 1983 had some pretty giant acts playing. Some I like, some I hate.
Saturday/New Wave Day. Divinyls, INXS, Wall of Voodoo, Oingo Boingo, English Beat, A Flock of Seagulls, Stray Cats, Men at Work, The Clash
Sunday/Heavy Metal Day. Quiet Riot, Motley Crue, Ozzy, Priest, Triumph (hadn't thought about them in a while), Scorpions, Van Halen
Monday/Rock Day. Los Lobos, Little Steven & Disciples, Quarterflash (haha), Berlin, Missing Persons, U2, the Pretenders, Joe Walsh, Stevie Nicks, David Bowie
Saturday/Country Day. Thrasher Brothers, Hank Jr., Ricky Skaggs, Emmylou Harris, Alabama, Waylon Jennings, Riders in the Sky, Willie Nelson
Testament/Kreator/Posessed 10.26 David Gilmour 10.30 King Gizzard 11.3 The Blood Brothers 11.8 Blood Incantation 11.12 Mayhem 11.21 Interpol & The Walkmen 11.23 70K Tons Of Metal 2025 Sick New World 2025 Maryland Deathfest 2025
ac/dc was one of my favorite bands as a kid and Maiden was the first show I went to that I actually wanted to attend. don’t think i’ll end up going but maybe i’ll see if my dad wants to go for them lol
Same reason every other rock festival has (None of the bands listed have original lineup)
Goldenvoice has taste. This is tasteful butt rock
my dream PowerTrip6 would be Metallica, Maiden, Sabbath, AC/DC, GNR, and Kiss. Ozzy is a proper backup option for Sabbath. Hopefully they have a proper act on standby for Ozzy (Crue or Aerosmith)
Curious how/if they're going to justify 2023 Desert Trip-level pricing when these acts headline Danny Wimmer fests around the country with way more acts to boot.

it's about the experience. That's worth the extra $350.

I think they are counting on AC/DC and Maiden for that since they don't play the buttrock circuit

But the thing with Desert Trip is they had seats so they could ask for a premoum. This probably ends up being similar to The Big Four and its just ga with a vip standing section in front. Unless they have grandstands on one side or something.
What do we think the cap is. I think half the Coachella number would be enough and to keep people comfortable.

wonder if this will be part of the Future Past tour that Maiden are doing that's focusing on Senjutsu and Somewhere In Time... really looking forward to hearing songs like 'Caught Somewhere In Time' live for the first time. dont think they've played this since they toured for the record in the mid 80's
oh and AC/DC have posted this on Twitter so looks like we have our 6

I've heard from a mutual friend that there will in fact be grandstands. I assume they also do the premium pit, seated section, standing GA, seated GA like DT was.

grandstands are fine. but having floor seating at this would be a travesty. hoping its like the big 4 with added grandstands
yeah, I assume it to be the same layout as DT just with a larger pit and fewer seats. Those seats were where they got a big chunk of the profits from last time so I doubt they give up on them entirely.

Ehhhh. Granstands are cool but its gonna be a vibe killer if everyone up front is seated and for Metallica of all bands. Those chairs are gonna fly.
Remember DT had a smaller capacity though. And youre forgetting tiered pricing.

lol yeah, I guess if there are chairs things could definitely get a little crazy up front!
Is this really going to sell that way? Besides AC/DC and Ozzy these acts have been everywhere the last few years.
Metallica is playing 2 sold out shows at SoFi. GnR have toured the last 2 summers in the US, including another tour this year.
If this is priced high, with the cost of housing out there, does this seem like the right demographic? How did the Big Four show sell?
If this thing dropped without any scoopz and all, then hotels would be priced normal. Airbnb's too. Theres still plenty of places to book right now at reasonable prices anyway. Sabbath/Ozzy and Ac/Dc are going to be a good draw since its probably the last time you would see them. Tool draws wherever they go and Im sure Metallica will think of something special to do. Billboard reports The Big Four had just under 50,000 in attendance and a 5.5 million gross.
