I watched most of the british lads Power Trip vlog on YouTube the other night and was surprised they said the Spectra was closed. Why wouldn't it be open? It's open during Stagecoach, isn't it, and not some strictly Coachella thing?

It is and maybe they just didnt think metal dudes wanna walk up a rainbow tower.
1:01:24 Proof that TOOL have live stage single camera video being shown tot he rear GA section only. First time in their career they have ever allowed screen footage.

First authorized full band TOOL footage to surface 25+ years. Theres 1 song with the old bass player from 1993 at Euro festival, some 1993-1996 MTV news bits with live clips they shot at the soundboard, a 1 song Danny Drum cam thing from 2 years ago and the Power Trip rear GA footage.
I think thats all that has ever been seen by the public. Tool shot a live DVD circa 2002 but its never been seen, but they recently said they were looking at it again for release.
Any intel on whether a "Trip" is happening this year?
there are some rumors about 2 new festivals but nothing to indicate any of them are "trips" or if they are in Indio. That person on the Rolling Stones forum said they were playing 2 GV festivals and one was at the same venue as coachella which would imply another desert trip kind of thing if that's turns out to be accurate.

Unless its Latin Trip - who's viable without recycling 2016 acts beyond the Stones? Window is kinda closed or closing on REM, Smiths, Zep, Talking Heads beyond 2023, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood, Police, CCR, ABBA even if they wanted to do it.
I mainly asked because I was on the fence on whether to spend the cash for Springsteen at the Forum or not. I've since decided to do so since even in the remote chance he played a Desert Trip in the fall the tickets would still be $$$ anyway.

Anyone think it's kind of odd that NYCH and Robert Plant both announced tours without any LA dates? I know Neil is playing SD but it's 2 nights in April and a pretty small venue. Plus that Rolling Stones rumor about them playing 2 GV festivals and 1 being the same place as coachella. 2 repeat acts wouldn't be the weirdest thing, I guess if they wanted DT2 especially if they get someone like Bruce.
Heard the next one isn’t metal or classic rock. Guessing it’s 80s and it’s gonna be Dark Trip. The Cure, Depeche Mode, who else could play…Morrissey? U2? Bauhaus?

I don't think that lineup can convince enough people to buy expensive tickets and book expensive lodging and spend an expensive weekend in the desert...

Also considered it being hip hop themed. Could do Beyoncé, Jay Z, Kendrick, Eminem, Dre & Snoop.

No, no, you've got the order all wrong
R.E.M. - New Order U2 - Morrissey The Cure - Depeche Mode
For the record, I don't think it'll be a new-wavey trip when GV is also running Cruel World
Cause all GV can do is just book one of those names as a CW headliner and keep the fest going. I think if they could convince DM to do a single day single stage event like Daydream would be the way to get em. Let them pick the talent since theyve had some nice openers the last couple of tours which would work for a festival.
