This is my thing, too. My wife can barely make it to midnight, she somehow passed out in the middle of LCD Soundsystem last year. At smaller fests, I'll run out and do the late night on my own, but after that trek back to Roo, I never end up going back.
I'm aiming to see PtM and the Superjam this year, and if they end at 230, I'm perfectly fine with that.
In 2012, the last year I went to Roo, I was able to make it to 4 am on Saturday after napping through all of RHCP.
I've napped through plenty of headliners. Only good thing about an unopposed headliner is that your can get a good nap in while it's dark at least once during roo
To be honest this isn't close to the Crystal Castles we had in 2009
Nope, this is just castles
I had no issues when I saw CC last year. I feel like that's just complaining to complain, and could be done with any number of artists across all genres.

I saw them last year too and it was alright. I'm just not a fan of the new vocalist. Alice's energy to me is half of what made Crystal Castles so entertaining live.
Thurs - Hari > Welles > Hippo > Twiddle > Kyle > Goldfish > Orwells (that run of three staggered is rough) > Mondo (maybe Kyle depending on how previous shakes out) > Twigs > Natasha/Moshe > Turkuaz > G Jones > Kaiydo into Ookay (or check out camps)
Fri - Scott & Scott > Twin Limb > Klangstof > Khruangbin > Barclay > CSH > DRAM > Jay Som > Kidjo > The xx (would like to see some of Gallant, not excited about this conflict) > Glass (if Which is a shit show ill check out Lipp) > U2 > PTM > Big G > DJ Mel SD
Sat - Big Jesus > Dacus > Lukas Nelson > Deap Vally > Improv Shakespeare > T&S > FI/Kiwanuka (might be the hardest) > Rezz > Chance/Warpaint (honestly have no dog in this fight, if they wouldve swapped one of these with FI/Kiwanuka I wouldve been better) > Cage (I guess) > RHCP > Flume/SJ/Shpongle (SJ announcement could be big, but leaning to Flume)
Sun - Tank > White Reaper (pretty cool theyre opening What) > Margo > Royal > Umphrey's/Hannibal (worried 'Dream Theater, with Lights!' during the day isn't going to be stellar) > Skepta > Flatbush (saw CC last year it was great, but still flirting with sunset here) > Lorde > BBNG > maybe maybe try to catch some of Collier > Weeknd

I went into the show telling my friends, "I just hope she endangers herself and the front couple of rows", and she did a pretty deece job of toeing that line. No its not the same, but she didn't take me out of it as some other replaced front people I've seen have.
Random thought: If they just gave Jamie xx a solo set with nothing but a foldable table and a disco ball as his stage setup to go up against Marshmello I would be happy.
Funny thing is, that is literally all he requested production wise during his last tour, a table and a disco ball.
And that 2015 set was amazing, although it would've been so much better if that had pushed it back 30 min or so to lineup with the sunset. How minimalistic that setup was fit so perfectly.
Friday: (Hoping to twerk it out each morning, we'll see what happens)>Khruangbin>Barclay Crenshaw>Ganja White Night>Natascha Leggero (comedy tent)>Illenium/Boyfriend/GWN (that ones tough for me)>U2>Portugal. The Man>Big Gigantic
Saturday: Freedia>Front Bottoms>Rainbow Kitten Surprise>San Holo>Rezz>Chance>Cage>RHCP>Flume/Superjam/Shpongle (Fuck.)>Marshmellow? (Probably gonna find somewhere to party for a bit)>Robe Rage year 4.>90's rave? we'll see.
Sunday: TRYING for 3 days of booty sweat with freedia>Improvised Shakespeare Company>Umphrees>Milky Chance>Boyfriend>Lorde>BADBADNOTGOOD>The Weeknd

This quirking shiz festival really appeals to people who don't care about extended sets or long breaks btwn music or long late nights atll. Well be fine. I"ll be the guy chewing his face from 3-7AM every long late night (thursday too, thurs late night this year finally, cya at roo)

The backstory of the band is now fucked up though... Alice Glass was allegedly in an emotionally abusive relationship with Ethan Katz the whole time. It would feel better to have the band be dead and gone, rather than continue in this form.

I know the lineup is bad but I'm pretty sure this lineup perfectly appeals to a "party all night" crowd.

And there's nothing to party all night to.
Might be an unpopular opinion but I wish they would have just upgraded the Kalliope a little bit instead of replacing an entire stage. Like if they actually gave us a little bit of a schedule for that stage and some better artists I would have been happy. I just don't think this upgrade is worth it if you're basically going to have the same quality edm as the Kalliope but with a 3am curfew. It's also a big commitment to permanently make one of your stages dedicated to EDM. What if EDM isn't what it is today in five years?

Couldn't have said it better myself. I laugh that the main selling point to The Other was that it was "running all night" but has a 3am curfew.

Isn't all of this speculation making your necks hurt? There has never been an other stage, or the absence of kalliope in relation to late nights in recent year. Can we all just wait to see how the initial run of the other goes before we grab the pitchforks.

You can easily see how Live Nation is neutering late nights based on the schedule, though.

Kalliope neutered late nights, criminally underattended LN shows neutered late nights, Live Nation is responsible for the weak lineup.

Right? For all we know Big G / Marshmello are going to walk off the stage at 3:00 and some surprise artists are going to come out for a few more hours. Another possibility is that those two sets just run long and don't get cut off. I don't think anyone can say with confidence yet that the Other won't keep going for a few more hours after 3:00.
