With the Walking Dead being in Atlanta and Godspeed playing the opening song for 28 Days Later, I’d have some serious safety concerns attending their show.
I assume you mean Godspeed You! Black Emperor. Their climactic moments are transcendent live, but overall it's kind of a boring set.. but that could also be because they played mostly unreleased material when I saw them a few years back at Union Transfer in Philly.

Very much disagree.
That's fair, and I absolutely love their first 3 records, which is why I saw them.. However they only played a small segment off of Sleep and the rest was new (unfamiliar) material when I saw them, so it was kinda hard to be into a 2 hr. slow build from albums that had yet to be released for 1-2 yrs.

Lol, I do, I was drunk and put V instead of B, just jokes.

With 4 stages + headliners allegedly playing unopposed, I'm assuming the overall schedule format will look something like 2015, minus the furthest right stage listed on each day.

That's a solid guess. By my count Friday and Saturday have 23 acts each. If you lop off the fifth stage in that schedule that leaves you room for 21 acts a day + Songs For Kids. If you shorten the 5p, 6p, and 7p slots by 15 mins each you can squeeze the remaining two bands in there. Or you could start at noon and give slots two and three 15 fewer minutes which I hope is the case.
Anyway what I'm saying is that I bet you're right.

23 bands Fri/Sat this year. 21 Fri/Sat in 2015 excluding Buford. They'll either have to have some overlap, 45 minute sets until later in the day, or start music earlier.
Where did they say this? All I saw was them saying Jack White and David Byrne won't conflict.
In a post I made in the Shaky Knees Family page that I deleted because they changed the original post that I shared. Bethany posted that and she works for Shaky Knees and often updates us in that group.

Damn dude, that Friday lineup back in 2015 is all kinds of awful. Having Mastodon, American Football, Pixies, Brand New and James Blake all in a 2 hour time frame is just cruel. That lineup was way too stacked to begin with. They don't make em like they used to I guess.

My guess would be that they both start a little earlier in the day and have some overlap during the day, but still leave the headliner unopposed.

Can’t believe the Godspeed hate; those dudes are legends! None better in the instrumental/post rock realm than them, Mogwai and Explosions so boo on that “boring live” thing. The 3 times I saw them I thought they were destroyers. Sorry about your ADHD if you thought it was boring! WTF?! (Not trying to be mean 🤪)
Not sure I concur with the whiners before you see how the schedule plays out. I’m always personally alright with a little lighter Sunday since you can maybe get there at like 3 instead of 12 or whatever after the two late night shows. So of course Post Animal is early Sunday so there goes that! Might be a “hair of the dog” Sunday if they are first after the late Saturday! Awesome!! This Saturday 2018 is way better than Saturday in ‘17 so that made me happy to see a better distribution there. I agree with Friday being stacked; in a perfect world where I curate I’d slide Japandroids and Fleet Foxes to Sunday to balance the strongest and weakest days a little more but I’m for sure excited. There’s always conflict and opportunity cost with festivals but it’s set up to be fine by me. Glad I did that early VIP as far as blind buys go. ATL is getting better!!

Friday will be such a cluster f*ck! PLEASE PLEASE don't have Courtney Barnett/David Byrne/Japandroids conflicting w each other! And on a side note: my dark horse pick for "band to play an entire album" at SK is Franz Ferdinand playing their 1st album

I saw Godspeed live in December and it was sick. I think you're forgetting Sigur Ros, though.
I haven't seen anyone in this thread mention BRONCHO. I haven't listened to much of their stuff but I love this song. Perfect for a summer day. I love singing the "da da doos."
One of my 10 favorite bands ever! (Radiohead, Sonic Youth, Sigur Ros, anything J Mascis does particularly Dinosaur Jr, Explosions, Mogwai, Tool, The National, Godspeed and Arcade Fire)
I know a lot of people include them in that genre but I always forget to because Jonsi sings so much on the tracks (or at least uses vocals as another layer to the instrumentation) but they are always phenomenal live too. I saw em at Sasquatch in 2013 and a couple times in Atlanta since. So good point about my definitional oversight on them.

They played a club stage at Roo a few years back. They're really good.

I am trying to pick a day of this to go to. I don't think it's in the budget to go to the whole thing. I am leaning toward Sunday which is weird because it doesn't feature any of the top four I'd be most excited about. But I still feel like top to bottom it's the best day of music for my tastes. It would have several in the 5-15 range of artists I'm excited about. Friday has my top two in Jack White and Fleet Foxes but I'm hoping to catch Jack White elsewhere and Saturday I love Matt and Kim and The War on Drugs but have no interest in QOTSA and the early part of that day is by far the worst for me.

Go Sunday then. You’re paying for the whole day so I’d recommend making sure the whole day is good rather than just the last couple hours.
